Help with my NP231

So I took my daughter up to the Quarry in Providence Canyon today. While I was up there, I had a problem with my transfer case popping out of 4H and 4L. I haven't looked at a NP231 that closely for a long time and was wondering if there was an adjustment on the linkage. I have not crawled under the Jeep yet to look. Probably will on Wednesday.

Has anyone ever had a problem similar to this? What am I looking for?

And wow! The road up Prov sure has changed! Not what I was expecting at all! I'm surprised that they didn't put a culvert in the wash crossing. I see them having to repair that section every year.

Do you have a transfer case drop? If you do the linkage gets stretched and will easily pop out of gear.

Edit: Also what kind of jeep? The more info the better.

I was able to get the TC split open yesterday. Looks like someone had put the dentend assembly in upside down! The detent spring was actually halfway in the case and was all mangled up. So I need to find a new spring. Also, one of the forks is badly worn. There wasn't much fluid in the case when I opened it. So I need to get a new fork.

Can anyone tell me the technical name of this part and where I can get a new one PDQ?

I have an extra one of those for the NP231 lying around, I actually have most of a case collecting dust. (minus the rear have of the case)

shoot me a text if you are in the Murray/Holladay/Sugerhouse area.

Thanks! I'll give the guys at Novak a call on Monday and see if they have it. If not, I'll definitely get in touch with you!

Just wanted to let you all know that I was able to get the part from Silly Willy. I called Novak the week after Thanksgiving and couldn't get anyone to answer or call me back after I left a message. Maybe they were having an extended holiday.

Anyhow, I got the TC back together and the SYE installed. Should be back on the road in no time!

Thank you all for the info and help!

I know I have said this before but I have the rear half laying around (I made a 231 doubler) just reminding you if it ever becomes useful
