There are 3.4 million acres of wilderness study areas managed by the BLM as wilderness. Another 2.6 million were identified in a 1999 inventory during the Clinton administration, but under a 2003 order by then-Interior Secretary Gale Norton, those lands are unprotected.

They use words like unprotected, thats almost slander!
Why don't they just let UTAH decide what to do with UTAH's LAND!!!!

"The American people are paying the price for the leases."

Another fantastic, hypocritical propaganda quote, brought to you by SUWA.

The American people are picking up the tab to pay the attorneys that defend our rights to use this land......because SUWA keeps the litigation going. And then when we want to access this land under Federal control, we have to pay fees to the BLM if we assemble in a large group. You see, from Washington.....Utah looks like an annex, with over 45% of the land being Federally owned......kind of like it was back in the late 1800's. Maybe they should try re-inventing wilderness areas in their own state and keep their nose out of ours.........

These same hypocrites decry the dependancy on foreign oil, yet want to halt exploration and production of our own reserves. Haven't seen a dual-fuel or electric Subaru yet.

If our good Senators don't make every effort to thwart this latest movement, the anti-American congress thats in place now will make this happen......they're not in office for the people, they are there to make a name for themselves, glean the gifts of fame and pandering of special interests groups (SUWA and company).

More food for thought, don't know who quoted this, but it seems to ring all too true.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money (generous gifts) from the public treasury. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilization has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through this sequence.

From bondage to spiritual faith;
from spiritual faith to great courage;
from courage to liberty;
from liberty to abundance,
from abundance to selfishness;
from selfishness to complacency,
from complacency to apathy,
from apathy to dependency,
from dependence back into bondage."

Question is, where are we in this sequence.....and can it be stopped? Do we learn from history, or merely repeat it?

Wow, that's pretty heavy......I need some dessert.

I say in the complacency/apathy range. Scary thought, but it does make sense.

This is the message we need to get out.

"He [Rep. Chris Cannon, R-Utah] said wilderness designation also prevents any kind of management and is actually detrimental to the health of the land."

Amen Chris, amen!

I hope people will wake up, and realize the serious threat we're facing. This proposal would close a lot of roads. I think having a few high profile roads closed might motivate some people to finally get involved.
