Sounds like the city council voted no to the range proposal. Bummer for the shooters in Herriman!

Where did you hear that? I just got the following email from Matt Robinson from Herriman City on 2/27:

Caleb,

Thanks for sharing your position on the gun range. I have received a lot of input from people on both sides of this issue and have appreciated residents sharing their thoughts. In the many issues that come before the Council, I will always listen to the various positions and seek out the data to make an informed decision.

I see value in having a gun range in Herriman. I will continue giving my support to the city staff to find a suitable location that is also economically viable for the city. We have some options that are evolving in the coming months that I am hopeful we'll see this project begin in the coming year or two.

I am happy to visit with you at any time on this issue or any other questions you may have about Herriman. You are also invited to stay in touch with me by going to my Facebook page and clicking the "like" button on it: www.facebook.com/mattrobinsonherriman.

Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Matt

Found this on their site:

On February 28, 2013, at the regularly scheduled City Council meeting the City removed from further consideration the proposed shooting range site. The City Council also affirmed its support of developing a public permanent shooting rage site within Herriman and has directed City staff to continue to actively pursue other property for this purpose.

So it sounds like only the original piece of property was removed from consideration.

I heard it on the radio on my way home from work. All that was said was that the Herriman city council voted no to the gun range.

The people up in Juniper point put up such a stink that the council would be committig political suicide if they voted yes on it. Other areas are being considered but that was an ideal location.
