Is that your winter project, Shawn? Very cool. You will love the visibility, weight bias, and storage space (yep, storage space) cutting off the back of your tub will give you.

It seems like it would be a shear point though, where the tubes come through the plate.

Get started.
I think he should have used a single tube, only larger diameter, it would look better IMO.Originally posted by Shawn
Good point, however you could place a gusset in between the two tubes adding tons of strenth
you can use the basement, we'll just cut a hole in the house to get it out when it's finished.Originally posted by Shawn
Get your junk out of your garage so I can have a place to work.

Yes, I think he should have used the next size up tube. The tube he used seems to small for the rig. Looks aren't everything, but one tube would have sufficed, and been a lot less work to build.Originally posted by Shawn
"Looks Better"
Why go after "looks"???
How much "Larger" of a tube can you go? Looks like 1 3/4 to me. I guess you could have done 2" and slid the frame inside the tude,,, That would look good.
Just another thought on how to mate the frame with the tube. I'll wait to see what your master mind comes up with
