I need help with designing a hinge for a Tire carrier, I have looked on JU and I was wondering if anybody locally makes or has experience with making there own.

I was thinking about using a yj spring pack poly bushing, but I think that it will have to much slop.

Please help and give me some Ideas

Thanks Brian

Use the trailer axle style. Trout industries troutindustries.com or Rockstomper.com. Trouts hub is a little nicer. I think Rocklogic carries the Rockstomper one locally.

FWIW, I used bronze bushings on a 1" bolt welded up through the bottom of the bumper. It works perfectly, is tight, and doesn't rattle. IMHO however I would go with the stuff Rocklogic has. It will cost the same and probly last longer as well. (the trailer spindle dealio). Oh, also, a guy in Utah County has a cool 4x4 hub as his pivot point, and he can turn the hub and 'lock' it, which holds the carrier in the open position! Pretty slick!

This is the coolest setup! My Tire Carrier doesn't sag when I open it up and it is tough... Better yet, it has a Grease Zert on it so I can grease it up if I need to.

This is a similar bumper, which has a better shot of the hinge.

Now this is my bro's Tire carrier which has a lot of slop... It is just a bolt and nut with some bushings. You basically have to lift up the entire tire carrier to put it back on the bumper to lock it in place.

But that was the only option he had since his bumper was custom made about a year before he added the tire carrier.
