I've had this trail on my bucket list for many years. I almost ran it several years ago, but work got in the way. I decided this year was the year I'd make it happen. We ended up with a crew of four rigs for the trip. @Herzog and myself, plus two friends of mine from Albuquerque. HITR is halfway between my house and Albuquerque, so our travel times were nearly identical.
Shane and I set off on Friday the 23rd and met up in Spanish Fork Canyon. We continued toward Hanksville, then stayed on highway 95 until the turn for Halls Crossing. The Ferry was supposedly closed per the website, but after we passed Hanksville there were electric signs stating that it was running. Oh well.
Shane and I stopped a couple times near Hite Marina to take in the view.
You can see the boat ramp in the center of the picture, not very close to water.
We continued to Halls Crossing Marina campground where we met up with Scott and Tank from Albuquerque. They rolled in about 15 minutes after us. We set up camp in the primitive campground for the night, got the fire going, and enjoyed the fruits of @Cody and his labors. I should mention here that the sausages from BeWilder do not fit in the standard hotdog pie iron, but they do fit in the double wide sandwich iron just fine. 😎
