home repair question

I have a home repair question for you guys.

A few windows in our basement bedrooms and spare kitchen have plaster around them that is crumbling away. Is there a special plaster I need to use to bond to the concrete there that wont crumble away so easily? I would like to get it nice looking and repaint it all to be presentable for when family stays or if we have some missionaries stay down there.

Looks like you could also wrap it with wood trim and paint that.

Thought of doing some of that too. Problem too is that these window pull back to open and dont slide sideways or up and down so that eliminates some ideas since there is little room on the sides.

Wood trim gets my vote.

I'd be suspicious of water penetration with crumbling plaster... solve that before you do anything else, or trouble will return before it should.

There was water damage a couple years ago and that was solved by running some gutter from the bottom of the down spout out about 5 feet into the neighbors yard
