How does this fitting work?

Bought a new fuel filter/regulator for my setup. Expected barbs on all 3 ends, but the return line is as pictured. A small section of my fuel hose is to the right as well. It fits snugly in the blue piece, but I can't imagine those two things alone would make a seal? Is there some special hard fitting I need that will create a seal on this return line?

It's a quick release line fitting. There's a female end that you can get which it will clip into. Is that 5/16 or 3/8?

Edit: here's an adapter for 5/16" to AN-6: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RUS-640860/

Basically the seal is made by one or two o-rings inside that female end. The clips hold the female part on and it's easy to disconnect by squeezing the sides of the clip.

So I just need to make sure I get a clean cut on the fuel line and the seal is created by pressure from the plastic clip? I saw the o-ring inside the reg, just trying to understand the seal between the clip and the fuel hose

No, the plastic clip doesn't supply any sealing pressure other than making sure the female connector doesn't slide off the male end.

You will either need to buy and adapt your fuel line to a quick disconnect fitting like I posted above or you can just push the rubber fuel line onto the male end far enough, throw a hose clamp on it and hope it doesn't leak.

I just realized I'm looking at a different part of on there. I was looking at the male end on the left, but the concept is still the same with the one above it I'm assuming. So you need the "male" end for the connect with the "RT" stamp on it, right?

Hopefully this will help?
