I could not believe we were driving up on Skyline this time of the year.
We went up Ferron Canyon and dropped back down Joes Valley.
You could have driven from Hwy 6 to I-70 up on Skyline with no problem.

Over 10 thousand feet. I'll see if Google Earth can tell me how high we were.

EDIT: Just over 10,500 feet where we cut our Christmas tree.

Christmas trees at about 9600 feet. Not really any snow either, just in the shadows of the trees.

Quite a bit, actually. Hiked all over the mountain looking for a tree, found it, cut it down, then dragged it back to the truck. Then I dragged my two-year-old up a the hill on a sled a few dozen times.

Wasn't talking to you though -_-

Crap, actually I just remembered that I went to Mirror Lake on Saturday so.... 10,687ft

Edit: and what was the deal with all the Christmas tree cutters? I bet I saw 40 vehicles with trees stuffed in, on or around them on Saturday.

The Christmas tree is often explained as a Christianization of pagan tradition and ritual surrounding the Winter Solstice, which included the use of evergreen boughs, and an adaptation of pagan tree worship. The English language phrase "Christmas tree" is first recorded in 1835 and represents an importation from the German language. The modern Christmas tree tradition is believed to have begun in Germany in the 18th century though many argue that Martin Luther began the tradition in the 16th century. From Germany the custom was introduced to England, first via Queen Charlotte, wife of George III, and then more successfully by Prince Albert during the reign of Queen Victoria. Around the same time, German immigrants introduced the custom into the United States. Christmas trees may be decorated with lights and ornaments.

The Slovenian version of Santa, Ded Moroz or Father Frost.Since the 19th century, the poinsettia has been associated with Christmas. Other popular holiday plants include holly, mistletoe, red amaryllis, and Christmas cactus. Along with a Christmas tree, the interior of a home may be decorated with these plants, along with garlands and evergreen foliage.

OK so excuse the dumb question, but is skyline just a dirt road or trail, or if I wanted to duplicate the sign/elevation picture WHERE would I go ???

Skyline Drive is a dirt road that runs from higway 6 (spanish fork canyon) to Mayfield canyon north and south. but the easiest way to drive skyline dr. would likely be to go up fairview canyon then turn south at the top and run it until you have had enough turn west either Mt. pleasant, spring city, Ephraim, manti, or mayfield canyons taking you back to hiway 89. you could get yourself in trouble this time of year going alone. awesome drive.
