how many sticks ?

how many sticks of dom should i get to build an exo cage for my toy truck ? it isn't gonna rap all over the truck , just the cab and front end. i know some of you have done this ( carl , tracey ,suka ) and if i've got to buy a minimum of 3 or 400 bucks worth then i'd like to have an educated guess how much to get. also 1 1/2" or 1 3/4" for the main hoops ?

It's kinda hard to say, a lot of it is just experience. But....
1 3/4 for the main hoops, 1 1/2 ok for the other stuff....
Get a rough measurement with a tape, add at least a foot to everything with a bend and at least 6-8" for all others. Then for every 3 sticks, buy an extra stick....
You will mess up at least a stick worth....no matter how careful you are, it happens. Don't place toooo much worry on waste....waste is part of tube work....Waste is a big cost in tube work, but to do it well, and not take shortcuts(punny) it is going to happen.

It is better to buy too much, than have to go back for more....esspecially with minimum orders!! You can always sell the left over.

You may want to call EMJ, they are out of CO, but have an SLC warehouse. Much nicer to deal with than Marmon....

Thats not true about Marmon not selling to individuals...unless something has changed recently. I know most people (and shops) say that, but when you actually call them and talk to them they tell you they will and all they ask for is a couple hours of lead time to get the order pulled (unless its a huge order)...

closer to a full day wait and you must get a minimun $ amount on the order.

I think I spent about 5-6 sticks on my cage. I'd guess an Exo might be somewhere about the same, depending on how you build it.
