I can't decide between 265/75 BFG A/T's vs 255/85 KM2's on the tow rig?

With my 4.10's and nv4500 I'm trying to lower my cruising rpm on the tow rig, so I'm leaning toward the 255/85's. I might have to trim the inner fender plastic for the 255's but am currently clearing my Yokohama 265's just fine. Any feedback would be great, the truck is only going to see about 4-5k miles a year, so tread life isn't a big deal.

I recently went through this decision and went with 285/75/16's

The 255 km2's didn't have a high enough load rating for what I wanted. The 285's dropped my rpms, increased flotation in sandy, dirt roads over the 265's and they don't have as much sidewall as the 255's for a bit better stability. You are not hauling as much weight as me so if you are simply in it for the rpm drop, go with the taller tires. I think Cooper makes an AT in the 255.

Not often wrong. Never quite right.

From what I have read the km2 isn't too loud and there is a decent used set for sale, but I may go with the A/T's, not sure yet.

I have 255/85 KM2s on the 4Runner, and I love them - not loud, not a huge MPG hit. If you can get 'em cheap, go for it.

I wouldn't trust Mesha's tires, though. He buys lousy hot dogs. Never trust a man that buys lousy hot dogs.

I am running the bfg km2's 255/85/16's on my 7.3. They do make more noise than an a/t but not as much as the toyo M/T's that I have run before. They handle pavement well. I am not expecting to get a tremendous amount of miles out of them however. I would have purchased the cooper m55 if I wasn't getting a discount on the bfg's for longevity reasons. The bfg km2 is a load range e 10 ply tire, which is plenty heavy duty for my usage on a SRW towing/work truck. They do seem to be a little softer (than my previous big o a/t's) in the sidewall on dirt/gravel roads that I frequent :) . I didn't see any change in economy from the 235/85/16's big o a/t's I was running before. The gear ratios were not significantly effected so did not noticeably affect towing ability. A little late but thats my 2c for what its worth.

I run 255/85-16 tires on my plow truck. That size is getting pretty hard to find, there are only a couple of brands that still make them.
