Tonight on my way home from work there was a couple on the freeway offramp with a broken down 2000 TJ. The rear driveline had disconnected itself from the rear axle and I tried to convince them that I could slip the driveline off (sealed rear tcase output so no leaks) and they could drive it home or to the shop in front wheel drive. The wife thought it was a great idea but the husband said he didn't want my help and was calling a wrecker instead.

Had the same problem a few years back when I was wheelin with a guy and broke his rear driveline. No sense in paying for a wrecker when its still driveable.

I tried to drive home from Holladay in FWD when I broke the Blazer's original U-joint, mechanic owned! THe truck is an '89.

anyway 241's are difficult to seal up well enough, I was unprepared and had to get the trailer. :( hahahah

I drove from 5 mile to Lehi in my suburban in front wheel drive. The 241 t-case has the slip yoke type. I put one of those latex mechanic gloves on it. Eventually it came off, but I got to Lehi where they refilled the t-case. Beats a tow charge. I am 0 for 2 for rear drivelines on Rattlesnake. Blazer was #2.

I think my Ramcharger was in front wheel drive as much as 4 wheel drive (full time 4x4) my Jr year in high school I don't remember changing many u joints in it but for some reason my rear driveline spent a lot of time out of the truck.
