I pulled my ad off ksl because I was sick of dealing with it (and I don't really want to sell it that bad....)

I did this in the spring when I was trying to sell my CJ7. It wasn't anything special but I was asking $3,500 for it and had a probably ten people come over in two weeks. I was adjusting my schedule to accommodate and felt like I was being pretty patient. I started to ask people when they called what they were looking to do with it after a guy came and spent an hour pouring over it and telling me he just didn't think it would be something his boy could commute in to SUU. (1983, SOA, I6) I guess I was fed up but the next person that called I grilled about intended use and they seemed to pass the test, until they showed up. Both were short and very heavy and she couldn't even get up into the rig. I had had it at that point and pulled the ad.

After that I sold the hard top and doors then lowered the price to 3k. It worked out in the end and I actually got more than my initial asking price but I was pissed at all the wasted time dealing with yahoos.

I have had the last of my RC parts on KSL for about a week. I got a text today that went like this:

This Colton who is selling RC Tires?
Yes.
Are the proline swampers still for sale?
Yes.
Are they mounted on the beadlock rims? They are $40 for the set of 4?
Yes, and yes.
Are they used?
Yes.
How much tread is left? Are they worn evenly?
Very little use
Alright. Are they short course like 2.2/3.0 or just 2.2?
Just 2.2 crawler tires
Darn. I might still be bale to make them work. How much for just the rubber and foam? I would assume $20.
I have no need for them. So I will only sell them together.
Well you can still sell the rims by themselves
I dont have time to dismount them. (nor did I want too)
Alright $30 for them.
Hows $50 sound?
You just said $40 for it.
Right, then you offered $30. So I countered with $50.
I'll do $40.

We will see how far it goes. Remember, these are RC tires. They dont wear very fast, and are practically new.

Email brings all the scammers though I think. Maybe not tho?

I for one when I see an ad with just an email, I instantly think 'scam' as that is what all the scam ads on KSL are.

I'll bet email gets you 5% of the traffic you'd get if you had your number on there. Then again, that might be what you want.

once you get past the first couple days, I tend to only get serious questions or people calling, it still sucks though

I like to put a paragraph at the end of my ad that rants about the dumb people on KSL asking me dumb questions. It scares away some of the window shoppers

CL's anonymous email system works well to weed out people. About 50% of email exchanges go like this:

potential buyer: Is it still for sale?

me: Yes.

No followup.

Listed my wife's car for sale on CL for $3750 and spelled it out for the dumbass low-ballers...

Please don't waste my time and yours, I won't respond to low-ball offers. Take the time to come see the car before we talk price...

And still I get emails like this...

You take 2800 cash today im from rifle

I got low-balled from CL last night. I don't understand people offering half of someones asking price, especially if I said "Firm" in the ad.
Heres how it went. I have the listing for $800 Firm.

Him
"I'll give you 400"

Me
"How about $900? I'm not looking for offers. I've priced it at $800 firm because that's what I want for it.
If you think I'm too high, find one from somebody who is asking for $500 obo. They pop up that cheap sometimes. This isn't one of those times.
I understand wanting to get the best deal possible, but offering half of a clearly marked "FIRM" price is just a waste of time. If my ad said "OBO" or "Must sell this week" then maybe $400 would be a good starting point for negotiations and you could reasonably expect to get it for somewhere close to that.
I will take $400 as a down payment and $400 more when you come pick it up."

wow. just wow.

You've gotta ask yourself "do these weird trades actually work out in the real world?" It must, or they wouldn't be doing it.

Who does he think he's kidding? Old porn is lame. Playboy is lamer. Tell him to come back with some Hustler, at least.

Hey, at least you cat are getting cash offers.

I was just offered a 35+ year collection of Playboy magazines. Not even five minutes ago!

He told me he had a "fairly desirable and complete collection of Playboy mags from the last 35 years" as well he added "that most of the were in really good condition with the exception of a couple." Without a chance to tell him I wasn't interested, he asked me if I had an eBay account. And then, before I could answer, he continued with, "you could make a lot more than you're asking by selling each magazine." Somewhere in his pitch he said "it was time to downsize his magazine collection" because his "kids didn't see them as heirlooms."

He spoke the whole time. I might have said ten total words, which he probably didn't hear. Near the end of his ramble, before I finally cut in, he said that he didn't have a truck so if we were going to do this deal (which "would be a money maker" - he said that a few times) I'd need to come down to Springville and do the swap.

I kid you not.

The whole time he was talking I was thinking about this thread, trying to remember everything he said, accurately.

I laughed a few times as he was telling me this because I thought it had to be a joke. He just kept right on with his proud pitch.

I knew I should have never offered it! Just kidding!

I had a guy text me last night about my fan I have for sale.

Still got the fan?
Yes I do
what year is it off of?
I have no idea
Can you get me the overall dimensions
21-1/2" - 16-1/2"
Would you take $20 for it? (asking $40)
Nope
30
How's $50 sound?
You have it listed for $40
right, then you lowballed me, so I countered with more.
I know I understood what was going on your firm on $40.
Yes.

Havent heard back

I probably would take less if people wouldnt just start with a lowball offer... Come to get it, and then we can talk price.

The RME lowballer should be mentioned as well. I will not confirm that this has anything to do with a participant of this thread.

Selling a Pioneer Nav Deck
Receive a PM stating he will pay me x$ MORE if I hold it for him until x date
3 weeks go by, 3 missed meet ups
PM asks for a deal. I agree, misses another meet up.

Dejected, I re-list the deck, ignoring PMs from the dude who jerked me around the previous month.

I sell the deck to a serious RME buyer and the first guy gets pissy.

Anyone else?

BLM... lolz.
