I need a very thin Electric Fan.

Well after my roll over my scout only has 1.5" between the water pump and the radiator after the front end got moved back. I bent the original fans blades but any flex might not be good. I don't have room for a pusher fan w/ the grill. I could bairly fit 2 smaller fans w/ 2.5" of clearance if they were side by side. A Taurus fan would be nice but it looks like they are 4.5" deep. Anyone know of any that might fit on the cheap side. I'm thinking of looking at some 3 cylinder Geo's and Mini vans. Trying to come up w/ something like this...

Thanks, Brad J.

You're not going to find anything that's 1.5" or less. Those blades would have to be extremely thin or have no twist on them, either way not moving much air at all.

So why do you only have 1.5" after your roll? Did you break a mount(s) so your drivetrain moved, is your grill smashed back? Either way I'd fix the problem rather than trying to find something that isn't going to exist. The closest you'll get is one of the $$$ electric fans, they get pretty slim but I bet they are still 3"+.

Yes & Yes. Replaced motor mounts but that brought the motor forward 1.5". The top of the grill is also pushed back a couple inches(?) so that the top of the radiator sits back.

The thinnest new ones that are not too expensive are at 2.5". If it sits just right the motor could fit between the pulleys and fan belts and go back further. I hate to start trying to pull the front end back but that might be the best option. I think I'll hope for a slow day at work & disappear into a junkyard w/ a tape measure.

pull the front end back out first of all, then worry about the fan it will be ALOT easier to fit once its pulled back out. You may be ok to just put the stock one back in.

Not trying to be a dink but if you go this route make sure you take a buddy with a tow strap to drag you out when your band aid goes bad and you cook your engine... :(

Thanks for the replys guys. Body work is not my thing & the front end sheet metal is happy where it is now & trying to move it back will be fun. I'll give it some tugs w/ the Suburban:ugh: I don't feel good about trying to fit a fan in there the way it is. I'll post an update when I'm done.

Strategic winching can do WONDERS for body work.
