is if funny to anyone else that half this thread is people trying to pimp the rig on the end on the winch cable?

or at least trying to justify something... I missed the point after I started laughing at "incredably capable":rofl:

Ya I dont get how an FJ isnt making it up that.....
Love the FJ's but it seems like there starting to be a wannabe vehicle. Like people want to get into offroading, so they go buy and FJ(which is an increadibly capible vehicle, specially for a IFS) And drop like and extra 7k into it, then sticker the poo out of it. Before going on there first trail. Then get stuck.
I was told the fj is the only stock vehicle to go through the entire rubicon trail without having any breakdowns for replacing equipment. So if thats true it poves even more to the theroy of a good rig isnt nesicerily highly modified, but drivin by a good driver.

I like the FJ Cruiser (the term "FJ" alone is for REAL Land Cruisers) and all, but I think I agree with ya that it's becoming a poser vehicle. Sure, there are the guys who buy one and subsequently beat on it out on the trail (and have fun with their Jeep buddies), but most everyone who buys one and [immediately] builds it are tards who suddenly hate all things Jeep the moment they fork over the $$$ for their brand-new "Jeep-killer".

Now, I drive a Land Cruiser myself and prefer it over most other vehicles, but I'm not all closed-minded about it. I wheel with Jeeps, Fords, etc. and have fun doing it. I enjoy checking out what people have done with their own rigs, it really opens up my eyes to see all the hard work one has done to make their rig the way it is.

Confession- I have an anti-Jeep sticker on my truck, "I caught the Jeep thing, now it hurts when I pee" Haha

I agree, I think that making him take the sticker off right then and there is the way to go. I saw it a while ago in Arizona where I am from. F-350 with all the bells whitles, gidgets, naked lady mudflaps, lift, lights, truck nutz and any other thing that the guy could spend money on and a stock suburban prolly 80's. The ford had the piss on chevy sticker, got stupid and got stuck in the powder sand. Guy in the sub, made a deal with him for some gas money and to make him rip the sticker off and piss on it if he could get he big ole bad ford out of the sand. It happen'd and man was it ever funny. Goes to show you, that them stickers people buy to make it go faster, sound louder, and look cooler, SOMETIMES BACK FIRE~!

1. We all started somewhere. Rigs of choice 100% aside, we have all been on both sides of the strap or winch cable.

2. There are complete morons behind the wheel of every brand vehicle, while some arguably have higher percentages, we'll leave it at that ;)

OK, time to step in for the Nissans. No Jason, not the 'usually homo piloted' X-Terras but the Nissan Patrols found all over Australia. Absolutely rock solid. Truck versions as well as wagons. We were sporting a wagon, intercooled turbo diesel, manual, OE snorkel and bull-bar of course. Thing rocked up and down the eastern coast of Aussie  While I'm by no means converting, I've really come to respect the non-US offerings of Nissan. I would own a diesel Nissan Patrol with very little hesitation. Of course that won't happen any sooner than me owning a 70 series wagon troopy so I'm content making that statement.

JL, this isn't an isolated incident. At the 2006 LOST Moab safari we had about 30 Liberties doing Hell's Revenge as well as a few token vehicles like a cherokee, disco and a new Rubicon. Well suffice it to say, all of the KJ's made it through with out a hitch and some even did some of the harder obstactes like tip over challange and the escalator. But the same cannot be said for the Rubicon that was in the group. Long story short, we had lunch while a couple of the guys made repairs to the Rubicon. Luckily we didn't have to tow it out. All in all who cares what you drive (unless it's a Nissan) as long as you do it responsible and respect the trails and help out other offroad enthusiasts.

JL, do you consider a Datsun to be a Nissan?:)

In this case, I am pretty sure one or more situations existed:
The FJ was not in 4WD
The FJ did not have 4WD
The diver suct
In any case, the douchy sticker didn't need to be there.

I was there last Saturday watching a group of the FJ's trying to get up. A lot of the problem was their spotter who was not directing them up a good line. Most were very inexperienced offroad from what I could tell. One FJ had his tires at 40 # too which made no sense. They dropped his pressure while he was partially on the Wall but only on one side as near as I could tell. He then got up eventually. Most of these FJ people seemed to have no idea what they were doing. I watched for quite awhile as most of them struggled. When they were all up, I then came right up in my LR Disco and their mouths dropped. One Jeeper who had been watching the FJ struggle chuckled and told me " I think you embarrassed them". I was surprised they had so much trouble as the area was bone dry and they did not have wet rocks to contend with which makes the Wall much harder. I chalk the FJ problems I witnessed to inexperience and bad spotting for the most part.
