The short story of SEMA/UROC.
Got there friday afternoon, dropped Carl's buggy off, truck and trailer almost got towed, pits /unloading were a cluster F. Shot the event until late....went to old downtown to stay with Curt....no where to park the trailer/truck. Drove around until 3:00am looking for a place to sleep....SOL Slept in the truck until the sun woke me up (about 3 hours). Saturday, got a hold of Todd and dropped the trailer off. (trailers in LV traffic SUCK) As I went to drop the trailer off, my TQ decided not to unlock and stalling the truck when I stopped. Had to feather/burp the throttle to get it moving. Not good in a PSD w/a trailer!!!! Anyway dropped the trailer, made it to a wally world lot and tried to figure out what was wrong. Check all the brake lights (don't ask, Ford thing) all the fuses, relays etc, no problem. Couldn't find any ground problems. So I pulled the chip. Still no solution to the problem....at theis point I was having a breakdown....I don't function well on less than 8 hours sleep in the last 72 hours....So I go back to Curts room and shower, try to nap and the maids show up, so I leave and go back to the event. Shoot for a while and realize I feel light headed and week....Then it hits me, I have not eaten anything since Friday morning. So I ate crappy BBQ there. Went back to shooting. Ended pretty late, went back to Curts to sleep. Sunday, We actually got up in time to go to brekfast. Then straight to the event....lasted until 2:30!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My watch said 4:30!!!! Went back and tried to sleep again....yea right!! Next morning XOR guys called so I could come meet them to register for sema. That is a process!!!! Got out of there, went and got a room, had dinner, passed out!!!! Oh yea that was Monday, I think???? Tuesday, left the room at 7:30, got to the show a7 8:45....6 blocks away! Left there at 6:30 ish after hanging out at the proving grounds....Went to dinner, passed out.
Wednesday, got to the show at 9:00 left at 1:00. Got out of Vegas about 2:00, got home about 8:00.
Was it worth it....I'll let you know when/if the check cashes
UROC final event was the most INTENSE rockcrawling drama yet. I LOVED it, anyone that left early REALLY missed out!!!!
GLAD to be home. Vegas SUCKS when you are there alone!!
I will have pics up on RME and my page soon. I have about 700 form SC and about 300 from SEMA to sort through and resize!
BEST part of the whole trip was....As I was leaving SEMA, Carrol Shelby was at the Ford display signing autographs....I had him sign my new lens!!!!
If you think that is hard to follow and jumbled....that is the simple/short version, you should have been there!!
