The moron that owned my YJ previous to me put on a piece of crap puck body lift and twisted off two bolts in the permanant nut-certs and stripped out another....now I have to drill them through into the passenger compartment and bolt them all the way through.

these are the two mounts right on the t-case pan, and the drivers rear....frickin moron.....took me 3 hours to do a frickin body lift change to the daystar mount+1" from a 2" puck and stock mount kit.......

any tips from the gurus....??

which one is stripped and which ones are twisted off...my tip for the rear...cut a little three sided opening in the rear inside fender...remove the piece and then put back together with choice of bolt and nut combo...also on the ones that are twisted off, if you can get a welder to it then I would weld a nut onto them...the heat might break the rust loose and then also give you something to take it off with...I just did that to a skid plate mounting bolt tonight...worked like a charm...:D putting on BL sucks sometimes:p

taking off a crappy body lift is even worse...I will probably just drill all the way through. he did it on one mount and it looks fine. I will probably cut through the inside wall of that rear mount and pull the nut cert. it is a pain but you gots to have a goot mount!!

Spence, I have the welder working if you need it. It takes some time to set it up because I have to hard wire it but other than that it works fine.

I also bought a metal chop saw. Greg and I started some fab work saturday making a Tcase skid for the sami.:)

Thats why you don't do body lifts! :D

To tell ya the truth I am scared of body lifts. I know a guy that has a 2" on his wrangler and his body mounts are rusting right through the body and the frame (at the same time) Going around corners he can feel his body slipping off of the frame!

He rewelds them probably every weekend to try and fix it. (That was last year, Haven't seen him since, don't know what happend.)

Good Luck! :)

that is why I pulled the 2 inch puck lift and did the body mount replacement + 1". Daystar has a great kit, I don't have a great jeep. It is tight as a drum now but I still need more mountage.

so you replaced yours with a 1" daystar??? do you still have the instuctions...if so can you give me the number and sizes of bolts you're supposed to have...I am making a CJ kit work on my YJ and after researching I have found that the main diff is the bolt sizes are different (3/8 and 7/16 on the CJ and I 'think' they are all 1/2" on the YJ)...if you wouldn;t mind that would be cool...

and I agree, the daystar kit is a great kit...I am going 1" so I can do a flat skid without going into the floor boards too much...:p
