IP & Email questions...

I had a couple customers tell me that they tried emailing me and it was rejected today, all while some emails are still arriving as normal.

So I log into my hotmail account, try emailing kurt at cruiseroutfitters.com and it bounces:

So, I tried sending one from kurt at cruiseroutfitters.com to the hotmail account:

Whats up? Did Comcast blacklist my IP??? Seems weird that I can't even email myself??

How do I get UN-blacklisted???

Why can't people send me emails? Doesn't make sense that the blacklist would block incoming too?

Go to that address and request to be un-blacklisted.

What might have happened is that your host may have been used as a spam relay and got blacklisted. Pretty lame but it happens.

Who do you use for your mail exchange server?

Go here: http://www.spamhaus.org/ and request to have your ip removed.

If they list you again, it's possible the IP of your MX account is being used to relay spam. Contact your provider.

I called Comcast (my IP), they gave me a new IP address, but its still bouncing after I rebooted everything???

My internet dude (dieselcruiserhead) is working on it too...

Did some digging,
looks like the SPAMHAUS blacklists are broken, so anyone who blocks based on these blacklists won't be accepting mail properly. because the request times out.

It shouldn't be your comcast IP, it'll be your IP of your mail server (your host). Shane explained the most likely cause of it, your host was used as a spam relay and got blacklisted, it (unfortunately) happens quite often with shared hosting.
