So who will be waiting in line for the new iPhone? Some of the guys at work are planning on taking part of the day off to stand in line.

For me I have enough phones, but I think that apple has done a good job with the hype, and a cool product. I think this will put the pressure on all the companies to put out some cooler phones.

I watched the 20 minute training video on it and it definately does look cool. I wouldn't mind having one, but I've got 1.5 years on my contract with Sprint still ;)

I already have a phone that does all that stuff. Only difference is that it's not as shiny and it's about 3/8" thicker. :p

Marketing hype at it's best, IMO.

16 Reasons Why Apple’s iPhone Sucks
The Apple iPhone is about to hit the market in one of the most-hyped product releases in recent memory. Fanboys across America are getting ready to camp outside of their nearest iPhone sales location so that they can be the first in the nation to give Apple money for this product.

Did you know that it sucks?

Here are some reasons why:

1. At $599, it is ridiculously expensive. (Add in the cost of an AT&T contract and you get close to $1500)

2. Those who want to buy one must sell their soul to evil mega-corporation AT&T.

3. Japan already has technologically superior phones, and they’re far cheaper.

4. Slower internet than the commercials show: “The data experience is going to be very slow. If you’re on a cellular network, [using the Internet] is going to be very slow.”

5. Initial reports indicate that YouTube is slow and crappy using cellular network internet. It’s nothing like in the commercials.

6. You cannot remove its battery. Thanks for replicating one of the biggest complaints about the ipod, Apple!

7. The glass touch screen of the iPhone guarantees that thousands of customers who drop their phones will have cracked screens.

8. The touchscreen keyboard sucks, according to those who have used the phone.

9. It can’t send MMS picture messages.

10. It has no built-in sync with Outlook that is as secure as a RIM BlackBerry or Windows Mobile.

11. It lacks proper support for Flash websites. So much for the internet.

12. It can’t record video.

13. No instant messaging.

14. It can’t connect to corporate e-mail networks, so don’t see it replacing your BlackBerry any time soon.

15. No songs as ringtones.

16. It creates incredibly annoying iPhone fanboys

i think ill wait till the price goes way down!

Do not want, my phone has all the software I could possibly want/need and corporate email is important. Frankly, a slick GUI just isn't as important as business functionality.

I will never buy from apple again... I had one of their ipod nano's and the back cover got a small dent in it a month after I bought it and the screen went white... I took it to their brain trust jerks and first thing out of their mouth was "that dent voids the warrenty" "nothing we can do for you..."

they offered to give me 10% back to recycle the thing... so it was worth $14 after one month of lite use.....

When I popped the rear cover off you can't even see the dent from the back side...

physical damage on almost any electronic device will void the warranty, if it has a dent in the metal back case that pretty obvious it's been dropped, smashed, or otherwise abused. Sorry, I would have said the same if it were something I was asked to warranty.

As for the iPhone. Only time will tell what kind of product it is. To say it's crap right now is ignorant, no one (not even reviewers, bloggers, etc) had enough time with it prior to release to really come up with a factual review of it. My opinion, I won't buy one, not for that price. If I was given one you bet I'd use it, it does have some cool features, the EDGE is a huge draw back but then again, I don't buy a phone to surf the internet. It also can't be tethered to a laptop right now so that sucks but because of that there isn't a whole ton of use for speeds faster than EDGE. Apple has always (Atleast since OS X) put out quality products so I don't doubt the iPhone will be any different. Only time will tell what kind of product it really is. :)

Ok folks, I got to play with one for a couple hours yesterday and I just can't resists responding to this crap.

Did you know that it sucks?

Here are some reasons why:

1. At $599, it is ridiculously expensive. (Add in the cost of an AT&T contract and you get close to $1500)

8gb iPod Nano: $249
Comparable smartphone: $200
PSP or other widescreen hand held video player: $130
Total: $579
Pay an additional $20 and get it all in one. They'll come down in price like everything.
As for the service, how much do you pay? Yeah...

2. Those who want to buy one must sell their soul to evil mega-corporation AT&T.

OK... and who doesn't have a product from some 'evil mega-corporation'? Ford, Chevy, Toyota, Quest Star? This isn't a legitimate reason for a product to be considered bad.

3. Japan already has technologically superior phones, and they’re far cheaper.

Prove it. Show me one that has all the features of the iPhone, is touch screen, available in the US and is far cheaper.

4. Slower internet than the commercials show: “The data experience is going to be very slow. If you’re on a cellular network, [using the Internet] is going to be very slow.”

Yep, if you're on a cellular network that is true. But this thing jumps from 802.11x to 802.11x networks like a champ. We walked around my neighborhood with it and it would just find the next open network and hop on. No speed degradation as long as you had a solid signal. And if you attach it to a network (such as your home Wi-Fi) its very fast.

5. Initial reports indicate that YouTube is slow and crappy using cellular network internet. It’s nothing like in the commercials.

Really? Wow! Ever try and watch video on your laptop using your cell service? Pretty slow! Think people, think!

6. You cannot remove its battery. Thanks for replicating one of the biggest complaints about the ipod, Apple!

:rofl: I remove iPod batteries everyday! If you have a razor blade you can remove the battery on any iPod. Costs $20-$30. Same deal with the iPhone.

7. The glass touch screen of the iPhone guarantees that thousands of customers who drop their phones will have cracked screens.

Umm... yeah. Thousands of people drop their current phones and crack the plastic screen everyday. Guaranteed. The glass was chosen to make the screen more scratch resistant. I don't see this as a drawback, its just like every other phone.

8. The touchscreen keyboard sucks, according to those who have used the phone.

I didn't mind it, it take a bit of getting used to but so do those tiny keyboards on a Blackberry. This is pure conjecture.

9. It can’t send MMS picture messages.

Actually if you get the data plan, you can!
But you can send photo's via e-mail, why do you need picture messages? In addition there are dozens of web based programs that allows you to send cell phones pictures, just use that if you are so inclined.

10. It has no built-in sync with Outlook that is as secure as a RIM BlackBerry or Windows Mobile.

Now I have heard this, didn't get to play with this though. That being said, Apple is not marketing the iPhone to Enterprise clients. But I'm sure that there will be an update in the future, the OS is just a flavor of 10.4 so makes for easy upgrades.

11. It lacks proper support for Flash websites. So much for the internet.

Not true, it has flash installed.

12. It can’t record video.

This is true. But do you really want to be making video with a 2MP camera?

13. No instant messaging.

I was able to get Google Talk to work. But really people, its a phone call someone!

14. It can’t connect to corporate e-mail networks, so don’t see it replacing your BlackBerry any time soon.

Didn't try this. But again, this is not marketed as an Enterprise product.

15. No songs as ringtones.

Nope. Not a hard thing to make ringtones using iTunes.

16. It creates incredibly annoying iPhone fanboys

100% true. Fanboys suck.

This all being said, I doubt that I will get one, I don't use half the features on my current Samsung T-619. The iPhone is slick, but not something I think I'll ever use.

uhh, I think he said in Japan. Not in US. So, he may still be correct.

there was a guy I used to work with that had a phone he bought in Europe. It was way sicker than anything we have here. -_-

The iPhone isn't available outside of the US, so I suppose that the point is mute. I would still like to see a phone that has all the same features from anywhere.
The Nokia L1 (at least I think it was made by Nokia) was an awesome phone we never got over here. All aluminum, I saw a couple of them when I worked at the Airport.
