I recently picked up a 30g IPod from Caleb... I like it! He left 3000+ songs on it, which is definatley a huge bonus.

Now I want to upload my own music, but be able to download the stuff that's currently on it & save it on my computer. Everytime I plug in the USB cable, I'm prompted to format the IPod before I can do anything. I understand there's some 3rd party software out there that allows you to download off your IPod... any recommendations?

the prompt from iTunes? If so to get around that you can open your Preferences (leave the window open) and connect the iPod. If it's from something else the only other thing I could think of is that iPod may be formatted for a mac :(

I could get you that music if you'd like though ;)

did you get an iPod? I thought you were anti-ipod?? :p

IaudioX5 and Zen Photo Sleek....But MM works with Ipod too....

Anti is such a strong word, what is the opposite of prefer?;)
Seriousely, it is not that they are a bad product, they are not. There are other products as good if not better depending on the features you are looking for. Apples marketing is so good that I just like to let everyone know there are other options.

Check out RockBox.org for a cool open source firmware for Ipod and many other players. I have been using it for about 6 months....very cool.
