Is shackle reversal right for me?

I have a 1981 jeep cj 7 I recently came accross a set of new rubicon express yj wrangler stock replacement springs which sit almost perfectly flat with my spring over. I have read on the internet that shackle reversals are not good to run with flat springs???? I currently have the M.O.R.E. shackle reversal on my jeep.
With my springs sitting flat would it be better for me to change back to shackle forward setup. or Should I stay with whats on my jeep. Any comments or ideas would be great.

Just food for thought, chevy ran a rear shackle set-up with flat leaf springs for 30+ years. With a flat leaf you wont have as much forward-backward shackle swing than with a arched pack. If it works, why change it?

You won't get the ride quality difference a shackle reversal can get you with your flat springs, but I don't think I'd go to the work to change it now.

I did this on my CJ with the exact same set up. No difference in handling or ride quality at all. One thing I did notice was how bad the front end would dive when braking. Also, you'll probably have some fender clearance issues. With the shackle in the rear, the front axle tends to move rearward durring compression.

The big benefit is the steeper approach angle you get by not having that shackle hanging off the front. All in all, I wouldn't do it again. Lots of work, for little if any gain.

I wouldn't bother switching back.

In fact, though I saw little gain from the reversal on the Freakshow, when we did the Green I stayed with the reversal.

Thanks for the input. I think I will go with a little shorter shackle I am currently running the teraflex boomerang shackle and I think it is a little tall. I think a solution might be to move the mount into the frame an inch or so. I like the front of my jeep to sit a little lower than the back. My brothers reversal on his scrambler has what looks to be a short xj shackle in the stock spring hanger and it seems to work well. I think his is 4plus and mine is MORE. My kit required me to cut the stock hanger of and use a bracket to mount the shackle. Any other advise is welcomed.
