It was just stupid enough to work...

Step aside losers, I've got real world ghetto tech for ya'll...

Although DIY beadlock rings are cheap and easy to get locally ;). Haven't you ever thought: What if I want to remove the rings from one set of rims, then weld them back on a different set? This would normally suck, but with the help of the Yota, I've got myself a 22RE powered lathe. :D

Step one: jack up your rig and put on jackstands.
Step two: mount rim
Step three: fire it up, put in drive or let out clutch.
Step four: apply grinder
Step five: apply grinder some more
Step six: yet, more grinding
Step seven: (thinking): I've got a pile of new ones, so WTF am I doing???
Step eight: (more thinking): Hmmm... how many grinding disks is this gonna take anyway???

OK, so I got one done. It takes a minimum of 15 to 20 minutes of continuous grinding and you'll use one new disk per wheel.

Oviously it works, but ooooooohhhh does it suck! It's well worth buying new ones...

What if you made a cutting tip mount for a floor jack?

That is an excellent idea! However, removing bedlock rings is not a normal occurance and may only be an issue this one time. Usually, you'd just sell the rims to someone and make new ones if they were not the right dimensions, lug pattern, or whatever.

which gear are you using? Please let it be 3rd....:D

I began with 1st gear (98:1), but it was a tad slow.

2nd gear works really nice (mid 70's, too lazy to do the math right now :p)

Success!!!

Ya know, you can't spell success without the word "suck". Well, there is no "k", but you get the point... :D

I have 4 done. There is a 5th one, but I may pretend that it doesn't exist. ;)

Was it worth the trouble? Not really, but what the hell...

What are you putting on your rig?

In all honesty I think all you guys with real beadlocks are wasting your money. It is so much easier to buy the beadlock look alike rims without the hassle of all those bolts to tighten and torque. Not to mention the water and mud that gets trapped on the inside of the rim, seems like a waste to me...

I think 4WPW sells some pretty sweet look alikes...

Ya know, I never realized how true that really is... Thanks for setting Me straight Kurt. :D

And I bet they were way cheaper too!

And I think you can get them in anodized aluminum...

:D

Are these going on the blue truck Vonski? Are you gonna put them on some stock width rims and make the "Indesructable Delivery Mobile"? Sounds pretty cool.

The rims currently on my truck will be sold soon. They are Bart beadlocks and they're fine, but I'd like heavier duty stuff, so I'm going with the DIY's.

The rims I've been taking apart today will be tossed aside for now and the rings will be used w/ the stock rims on the "delivery Yota". Yes, it will be the beadlocked, exocaged parts runner from hell, just give us some time... :D
