JBA Long Tube Headers

I'm considering a set of JBA Long Tube Headers for my 2010 Tundra. Problem is, I know they're "illegal" for sale in CA due to their strict emissions laws, but what about UT? I don't see anything specific on their website. We do have emissions here in UT County, but if I keep all the 0₂ sensors and the catalytic converters, etc. won't I pass emissions since there won't be any trouble codes and no check engine light on? Or is there a sniff test I won't pass? Just curious how headers on modern vehicles would affect emissions testing...

I'm going to answer my own question...

I found this:

The installation of this header will eliminate the front catalytic converters. To prevent the check engine light from being set you should install the URD Rear O2 Sensor Simulator which is a direct plug in module that plugs in between the rear O2 sensors and the O2 sensor connector.

So, the headers replace the front cats, which is illegal. I can buy a module that will prevent the check engine light from coming on as a result. If the emissions tester simply scans the computer, I'm golden. But...if he does a visual inspection and knows what to look for, then I'm hosed. It's very tempting though...guys are picking up like 40hp/90 ft-lbs torque with these headers and dual exhaust...

emissions testing on 1996 OBD2 vehicles and newer is done through the OBD2 scan port. There is a set if test the vehicle does on its self: evap, heated and non heated o2 sensors and several others depending on the vehicle. 2010 vehicle are not allowed any not ready test, as where 2004 to 2008 i believe are allowed one and and 04 to 96 are allowed two not ready test. So the only problem i would for see on your vehicle is a possible catalyst efficiency below threshold code which is a p0420 i believe or another simliar code. Ive done high flow exhaust before where we have retained all the factory stuff and still had a code but every vehicle is different so you could get lucky, but as where you are not aloud any not ready tests on your emissions its a gamble

if you are thinking about doing a full exhaust anyway, you could always put in some cats right after the headers similar to the factory configuration. magnaflow makes some pretty slick spun cats that are very compact. good thing too, it was hard to fit two of them into my TJ when I put my 5.3 in.

I'll never go cat delete again. I'm running a factory cat from a 4.8L 2004 silverado on my 700hp camaro and it makes zero power difference compared to when I have the quick release straight pipe in. It sounds raspy as hell w/o the cat and the fumes make it horrible to drive around, and it's running rich or anything, it's tuned beautifully.
If you keep the cats and all, and AIR injection ports (if applicable) it will pass emissions just the same.
