Jeep CJ-10a build

I was pointed here from Pirate by Spork. I wasn't aware we even had a local board, so this is great news! I've owned a CJ-7 and two YJs in the past, but after seeing my first CJ-10a on govliquidation.com I was intrigued and had to have the "diesel Jeep." That's the beast I have now since around January 2004. I've had to have the transmission TF727 rebuilt right from the start, and there were some problems with coolant leaking, so I found a used head that pressure tested fine and had that work done and then put on my block. Since then, I have removed the bobtail from the beast and am working on a flatbed for it. I have also been fighting with high EGTs that have confounded the experts at www.binderbulletin.org. I changed the rear gears to 4.10, put a small scoop on it for more fresh air, new K&N air filter and new 3" exhaust and we still haven't fixed it, but my mechanic and I are going to work on the injection rack timing tomorrow and see if we can't make a dent in the problems. I'm looking for a front axle to replace my dead tube Dana44HD so the transfer case can do its work rather than just gear reduction! The next step in the build is to lift it a bit to stuff larger tires under it, but that like everything else on this will be an adventure. It is not the same as any of the CJs...it is closer to the full size J-series pickup trucks than anything else. I'm currently with my wife and children in Benjamin, UT and farm a bit of ground there as well as work as a computer nerd for a living.
