Jeep fuel injection Q's for a Ford guy

I haven't owned a jeep product since I was in high school and that was a '55 Willys wagon, so I have a few questions. I was a Ford technician for five years and did independent stuff before that, so I am very familiar with fuel injection stuff, just not jeeps in particular.

I am considering purchasing an 4.0l XJ, but since I can leave well enough alone, I will probably want to build a stroker motor or something like that.

Would I be better off with a 95 or older (non OBDII) or a 1996 and newer (OBDII) as far as accepting motor mods? Can you download new programs for the OBDII PCMs? Or do the 95 and down PCMs take custom PROM chips like the old GM computers did?

I know HESCO sells bigger injectors with their stroker kit, what other mods does that require?

I am building my ford 302. It’s a 1998 obd II and at first it was a little intimidating but now I have got it down to basics its not that bad and I will be able to tune the motor through the obd port and diagnose the motor through it.

I am happy I went with the newer motor but for ford there is a lot more people who deal with the older motors because of all the mustangs out there.

not sure on a stroker, but jet chips makes performance chips for the cherokee any year 91 and up... which sucks cause i have a 90 jeep and really could use some more HP after putting the lift and tires on it...
