Jeep grand cherokee tcase options

I have a tranny leak in my 98 zj well 2 leaks actually one from the pan and 1 from in between the tcase and tranny. My thought is
If i have to pull the tcase to fix the leak why not just do my 231 conversion at the same time? Will a 231 bolt straight up? Also which 231 is best j, c, d, dhd ect? And will all of those bolt right up? Also what vehicles can i find all of those in cuz I'll most likely just go to the junk yard and pull one myself.

Last i have a slight drip from the rear main do you think its a good idea to do that now too? Thanks for all your input

What motor/trans is in your ZJ? you basically can put the 231 or the 242 in it, bolt up may or may not happen depending on motor trans combo.

Thank you it has the 5.2 and the stock auto tranny.
