I'd like to take the jeep up exploring up in the Uintas above Kamas. There are lots of trails that come off the mirror lake highway, can anyone recommend any?
Lots, Upper Setting, Murdock, Norway, Gold Hill, Soapstone, etc. Most if not all are still under snow. Check out the local Forest Service field office's website as they have all the maps.
I have snowmobiled many if not all the trails Kurt suggested. Once the snow melts I only spend time outside of Bear River Service. On that end, all the trails are numbered and there are some really fun trails. I would get some maps of the area and have fun exploring.

Well I guess I'll keep you guys in mind, do me a favor and drive fast then...... Let me throw something else out there. My other passion is fly-fishing, I'd love to drive my rig up to a secluded lake and knock 'em dead. There are tons of lakes up there, and I'm sure all have fish, but there are a few that are loaded with fish. Anyone have any experience and are willing to share?
Big elk lake up the Norway flats road. Good fishing in the stream on the 1 mile hike up to the lake and also the lake itself, there are a couple more lakes about a mile or so away in the Shingle creek drainage that are also lots of fun to fish. The road up is long and rough though, atleast it is in a 1 ton truck.
Brown duck basin is also a rough ass road up the bear wallow road, it really pisses off the back packers when they find out my truck is a 1/4 mile away and they just hiked 8 miles or so. I caught my first Artic grayling in this basin. There is atleast half a dozen lakes in this basin worth fishing.
The whiterocks area is also a favorite of mine not much of wheelin but good fishing though and there is also artic grayling up there to.
You really need to buy a book called fishing the high uintas I think? I loaned mine to a budy and have yet to get it back. It's written by a couple local brothers who have spent alot time backpacking and fishing up there. That and the Utah Gazetteer will have all the info. you need for some great wheelin and fishing. Edit: High Uintas backcountry by Jeffrey & Brad Probst.
I don't think the off roading is all that great though because I have been all over the south slope in a stock 3/4 ton long wheel base extended cab Ford with never an issue. But the fishing is GREAT.
