But designed here, assembled here, and placed in an axle that is made here...

Imagine that...

Hold on a minute What is this Tochigi Fuji Sanjyo and what did they do if americans designed and assembled it? I don't know the exact details but that is a Japanes locker. It was placed in an american axle that has served proudly since the forties and is not the problem.

The produced and assembled the actual locker unit... it was sesigned by Chrlysler to fit in their application, then subcontracted to Sanjyo to be produced and shipped here where it is "assembled" into the axle.

Take the TRD locker for example... don't see thos on hold do you?

Don't know anything about the TRD locker but Toyota has had recals too. I am not saying Jeep stuff is perfect, but neither is Toyota. Too bad Toyota has chosen not to compete with Jeep in that class since the early eightys or maybe both would be better. You seem so think that Jap s*** don't stink. It does same as American.

Well I could start on this one a million places...

A. Americans have chose for Toyota not to compete... the US is only 5% of their Landcruiser Market and at that all they send is the pluxh stuff that Americans buy... smae reason Jeep makes the Liberty, etc. In most other markets, you can still get Landcruiser, removable top, full-float rear, OEM lockers, 6cyl Turbo Diesel, you get the point...

B. It was heavy lobbying by Chrysler that made the high tariffs that Toyota has to pay to import vehicles...Alond with that it was money from US automakers that lead to higher DOT standards that forced the D90 out of the country (airbags, which have since been proven deadly)

C. Look at any consumer report on the longevity of a Toyota vs a Jeep... thats all the proof I need... :D

This is only a halftruth, the d-90 has to meet other crash standards besides airbag's, it also needs to have side impact reinforcements designed and built, and a ton of other stuff.

I have not heard of any locker problems with the Rubi, other than supply issues. We have not gotten any recall notices from the DC on my dads Rubi.

Japanese vehicles generally live longer than american ones. They really are of a good design. (I'm a zook man). All crap stinks, but what if you poop less? Jeeps are fun, so are toyota's, so are zooks. (or any 4x4, if you drive them right.) All of them have their place, and all of them are different, none of them are best.

I have a broke down zuk in front of my house. While I think that it is overall of very high quality(and delivered 100,000 pretty much trouble free miles), The problem it has should never have happened and it is because of poor design and poor material, and I have found out that it is fairly common. Every car or truck anyone in my family has owned, except for my brothers mercury cougar with that Ford auto tranny thing,(American, Japanees or German) has lasted forever and had minimal problems(A 67 F250 my dad sold to a friends son had over 700,000miles last he heard). My 81 F150 300ci6 has 170,000 and has never been worked on except for regular wear items(It has never broke down ever). If you take care of what you buy it should serve you well no matter where it was made. The start of this thread just sounded like a die hard Toy guy taunting Jeep people.

Actually bobdog, you came to my thread and hijacked... I want to know what the problem is with the lockers...

The source (Big Sgt) is very reliable and a DIE-HARD Chrysler fan, no-one was bashing anything.

So my question stands, what is wrong with the locker? What happens? Are all Rubi's effected? Is there a recall?

An all right guy with a twisted sense of humor, please take no-offense :D, I was just sick of hashing out the same old debate when I had asked a valid question and you came to my thread to bring up the never ending Auto debate... I have freinds and customers that have Rubi's, I want to know more about the locker dilema.

:D

Sorry I do take offense. Call my Jeep all the names you want it is all in fun. Calling me a name isn't cool and should probably be done in person. I must have taken your first post the wrong way. It was probably because of the good natured brand loyalty you have expressed in the past. I look around on some of the Jeep boards and have not read of any problems. I do recall reading something in a mag awhile ago about compressor problems of some kind(maybe something to do with the dumb place they put them). Hope to see you an the trail and I did not mean to piss you off, Bob
