Maybe we should get this move to Tech? OK I'm taking my RE TB to Summit tonight. I do not have a stock HO throttle body. No worries about this thread getting all hijacked to hell.-_- I think this dyno test will be a great thing to have for reference. Plus I've informed RE of what we're going to do. And I love to make them squirm about things.
What time and I'll meet ya down there. BTW where is down there? :D I thought I saw you pimping two stock TB's? That's all we need, is a stock one.

Wayne, do you bore your TB's at your garage? What size lathe do you have?
Not im my garge - not big enough! The lathe is HUGE! And old... It's an old belt driven one that was converted to electric. Got it for hauling off...:D

Wayne,

Give me a call, it's looking like tomorrow is going to work best. Joe needs his throttle body back Friday. I just need to schedule us a time on the dyno.

If any one has a 62mm throttle body spacer we would love to get some numbers on it also.

Tomorrow will be ok with me... Say 7pm? How about everyone else?

I'll need an address and/or directions.

I want to test a stock TB. Stock TB and spacer. Yours and my bored TB and RE's 62mm one.

Is this a free test? Or do we need to bring a 12 pack at least? :D

Ok 7:00 P.M. will work. The address is:

Modular Madness West
8169 South State Street
Building C
Midvale

I am covering the cost of this. If you want to bring a 12 pack I'm sure it won't go to waste.

I can remove and bring my stock throttle body if we need it.

Can't wait to see the results on this little test. I have a stock 4.0 TB that I bought a few years ago to mount on my 2.5L and never got around to mounting. This just may motivate me!

Mike and all, would you mind if I came out and took some pics and notes to do a write up on this....This could be the RME version of Myth Busters....

Mike is this the place that is in the NW corner of the building that is set back off of state street a little, behind the carwash?

Thanks
Marc

Marc,

I just want to check with the owner of the shop to see if he is ok with it. I will call you in a bit.

They are actually on the south east corner of the building they are in. It is off the road a bit. By Pappy's Rvs.

I've got a Hesco model on mine, can I play on the dyno too :)

We are looking for results. We will be running the test on one vehicle only. If you are interested in a dyno run for your Jeep I can get you in contact with the owner.

I would like that, but it would be interesting to see the way the hesco and spacer both 62mm stack up to the rest, unbolt it from mine..... when is this all going down?

Cool, Thanks.

That is the place.... I used to work/race at an RC dirt track we had in the back of that same building.

Wayne,

I am going to bring a stock drop in paper filter for your Jeep for these tests, also. Are you ok with that?

Yeah, I'm fine with that! I also won't wash my K&N before then.... I think it has about 10k (mostly off road miles) on it since it was last washed as well. I'm also not going to put anything fancy in the gas tank, unless suggested. It will have standard old regular unleaded pump gas. I like Chevron, but I don't always buy gas there. If suggested, I wouldn't be opposed to putting a few gallons of race gas in there and fill up with premium... I dont' think it would make any difference at all with the stock stuff (spacer, air filter, TB), but the larger throttle bodies might see a slight change.

As far as anyone else wanting to 'try' stuff on my Jeep, I don't mind; and as far as anyone wanting to be there to take pictures or do write ups, I don't mind that either - in fact might be good magazine material. However, make sure to clear all of this with MRJ FIRST! This is his deal, his shop and his butt if something happens. I'm only supplying the test vehicle and beer. :D

Does anyone think that one 62 mm TB will do better/worse than another 62 mm TB? Reason being...I think each will do the same and interest of time, we may not want to attempt each and everything. We already have....

Stock TB
Stock TB and TB spacer
Bored TB
62mm TB
K&N replacement filter
Stock paper filter

Each test takes 3 pulls to get a good average number. If we start at 7, just with this stuff, we might not get done until well after 10 as it is.

I agree that there is enough on deck to run right now. We are ok to have the pictures and article form the owner on Modular Madness West. I'll see every one at 7:00.

What brand TB spacer are you going to test? I have heard tons of pro's and Cons on these, and I would like to see the results.:D
