I heard this morning from Bart Jacobs that the Toyota had been recovered and is at Larry's Towing in Orem.

From what Bart said, he couldn't see any way someone in the vehicle could have survived with the amount of damage that was done to the cab.

My condolences to the family & friends.

There's plenty of spots above Silver Lake where if you went off the edge, it would be a long way before your rig came to a rest.

The road that goes up behind Silver lake flats can be bad, but it's been a question of debate whether that road is open for two track under 50" or Toyotas (jeeps). One map I looked at shows it a Toyota (jeep) trail and the sign at the beginning of the trail shows no jeeps, ATV only.

That trail ends up at the bottom of one of the Twin peaks at 11000 feet. He could have been any where up there.

Yeah, saw the rig this morning and it was ugly. It was a stocker Toyota truck, reg cab, mostly bald stock tires. Looks like it rolled many times. The top of the cab was pressed onto the seat cushions and the seat backs were bent down. I'm guessing he was ejected, because the top would have had to been cut off to get him out. Sure brings the reality back to ya in a quick way.

I am going to be up there Saturday to take a couple pictures and see if I can't talk with one of the Rangers about getting it fixed, I don't want to cause any problems by doing a long term-fix on the trail. EZ and I had discussed fixing it last fall but got beat by the snow, I will let you know what either of us finds out about getting it taken care of, I am sure we will need help from everyone, possibly make a day out of repairing/cleaning the entire trail.
