Anyone ever thought about doing a weekly mechanic training class for us rookies? Maybe going over basics and then things like maintenance items and even things like basic welding and even differential installs and what-not... Just and idea.

I'm teaching myself. I flatted and broke the bead of my 35'' tire and practiced setting the bead with starter fluid and a lighter.

It would take some motivation, organization and a common meeting place/garage. But it would be good to learn.

Reading online and doing small stuff on your own is a good way to build up your skills. When I wanted to learn how to Mig weld, I bought a cheap 110v Craftsman welder and started welding together small projects. After awhile I was doing projects for friends, building bumpers and even doing a Spring Over on my YJ with that crappy little welder. I now have a 220v Lincoln and have welded large projects together.

Is there something specific you want to know? Post up a thread for each subject ad I'm sure most of the folks on here will help you get the project rolling and then completed.
