Jerry Cans

I need to buy 2 jerry cans for the Jeep. I keep hearing that metal cans rust and develop pin-holes. Is there anything I can do to prevent that? Plastic cans would be great but all my searches on those come up with stuff we can’t buy in the US, won't fit my carriers, or are used military cans. Metal works for me but I don’t know how to keep them from rusting.

Thanks

If you get good Wedco jerry cans, they should outlast you.

But, for sure, talk to Kurt - he'll steer you right.

Scepter cans are the best way to go. Military surplus because you can't buy them in the US new anymore. eBay is a great place to start with your search. Some surplus sites might have them as well. Kurt has a "few" but you may have to offer him gifts and favors to get him to part with a them. :D

I still have not had a chance to go through my cans and figure out how many I need and how many I have to sell. The price of Scepters has obviously gone absolutely mad, selling for up to $170/can for a new one on eBay

I'll likely have ~10 used olive drab Scepter MFC's to sell @ ~$50/ea. with a new Vition gasket for gasoline, $45/ea. if you just need a rubber one for diesel.

On that note I might have some brand new ones still too, ~6 of those available. Same olive drab Scepter MFC's, $90/ea.
