I got my build date finally. The hold up was the color apparently. This will end up being Harrison's daily driver as long as his grades are kept high enough to my standards and he keeps his nose clean. If not, he gets to drive the old Honda Accord I have kept around for people to borrow. Its not going to be setup for hardcore wheeling.

Thoughts:
Enough of a lift to clear 33's or 35's. (Spacers or springs) I don't need anything fancy. No more than 3" because I dont want to have to worry about any slip yoke or driveline modes and everything else that comes with raising them too high.

I don't know how big of a fan of TerraFlex I am. On my TJ I had a lot of joints wear out and it wasn't wheeled hard or had many miles on it. I think I had to replace 2 or three in 10K miles. I finally got fed up with the arms and replaced them with another manufacturers bushing type which was fine for what we did. The lift was not a long arm lift.

I go to Missoula a lot and when I do, I visit AEV because they are across the street from my client. The guys at AEV said that longer arms are not needed for any lift under 4". They said a TJ is a different story because of how short the arms were on a TJ.

For 33-35's 2 1/2"-3" spacers are fine and keep the stock arms.

I have a friend with warn out bushings like you described. Do you remember what bushing you replaced them with?

I think a Teraflex leveling kit and 285/75 r17 is about the least invasive lift and tires you could go with. You may need an extra 3/4" puck on the front because of the winch. You may also need spacers to keep the tires from rubbing the swaybar.

I ran that leveling kit on my 2012 JK for 40k miles and liked it. I had planned to get 285 75 17 tires when the OEM tires wore out, but I traded it in on a new Jeep before that happened.

I can't speak for the TJ lifts, but I know Teraflex has a great reputation among the JK community.

If you really want 35's, you need a 2.5"-3" lift. This will require exhaust spacers or a new driveshaft. The new Mopar 2" lift (it's really 3") comes with a new driveshaft and Fox Racing shocks. This is what I have on my new Jeep. I love the lift, but I had to add new lower control arms to correct caster. You can also correct the caster with correction brackets for about $100.

I'm running a 3" TeraFlex Outback suspension on my JKU, which sits a little higher than 3" and I haven't swapped out driveshafts. I would like to, but more for strength and clearing the exhaust than a need due to lift height. If you're not planning on too much offroading and want a cheaper suspension option, you could run a 2.5" budget boost lift. Keep stock springs, shocks, arms, driveshafts, etc. The 2.5" BB lift will be perfect for 33's and if you did order a Rubicon, 33's and 4.10's ought to be a great combo far as gearing as concerned, still have some decent gearing for pulling a trailer since you mentioned that.

I don't know if Teraflex has changed anything with their control arm ends, but I'm running a full set of arms on my JKU and have close to 8k miles on it now with no issues and it sees plenty of offroad use. I do grease the control arm ends often though.

Congrats! Did you go with a Rubicon?

Hopefully that train doesn't derail! ;)
2016 Rubicon, automatic, 4:10 gears, dark charcoal with painted top and fenders to match and a few other goodies I don't recall off hand. The person at jeep said that as long as the weather holds, it doesn't get dropped off the car while loading and unloading and no theft in the yard it should be to us by the 5th

Sounds like a great set of options, I love the color matched fenders and top! Did you get the tow package, too?
I dont remember for sure but I dont think so. I will be changing the rear bumper anyway so I dont think I wanted to pay $400 for a wire harness and cheap hitch. I let my boys do select the options. There were a few I required and I let them do the rest

My LJ has a Teraflex long arm kit. I have had the Jeep for 40K miles. Not sure how many miles were on the kit from the prior owner. It was wheeled pretty hard by the PO and it has been running 35's that entire time. I hit every joint with 3-6 pumps of good synthetic grease every 3K miles when I change oil. They are all tight and show no signs of wear. I'd go with Teraflex in a heartbeat. I've actually been looking for play or wear because I hadn't heard of flex joints lasting over 50k very often.

I'm a proud new owner of a 2016 Rubicon Unlimited in Granite Crystal Metalic with matching top and fenders, automatic with 4:10s. Nothing real fancy in the electronics and interior. I really like the color and look forward to exploring in it. I will post a picture soon
