Just for the helluvit: Creepy Crawlers VS. GY MTR's

Just seeing how people are liking the Creepy Crawlers. I have a friend who is getting a set of 37"s and cant decide between those and the MTR's.
I currently have 37" MTR's so I am a little biased, and I have never seen the crawlers in person so I dont have an honest opinion.
Just trying to get a feel...

What do you all have to say about them?

Whos rubber is softer?
Whos tires is truer to the posted size?
Whos tire has better bite?
Etc.

Like I said its all good though, it was worth it just to see that smilie gorilla in your avie

having never ran either but watched both quite a bit I would have to say the CCs spank the MTRs in most cases. The tread depth is WAY deeper on the CCs and I know they are damn near exact what the sidewalls say they are, which I know MTRs are not...CCs hook-up awesome, for an all around tire the MTR isn;t bad, I dont think there is enough people running the CCs ont he street to give a good feel for on-road performance of them, but if you are looking for a strictly off-road tire then I would say the CCs...if/when they come out with a tire larger than the 37s on a 17" rim I will look at them very seriously...

I'm a big fan of MT/R's and have run two sets on my XJ, but I'd buy the Creepy Crawlers for a more off-road type of rig. I have watched them work when I was spotting in competition and have a couple of friends running them on their comp rigs. I'm pretty impressed with the Maxxis tires. They are TOUGH, hook well and seem VERY durable.

Caleb got it right. One thing I'll add is the durability doesn't even compare between the two....MTR's may as well be made from cheese and chest hair.

Ive ran both in the 37's and I will take the Creepy's any day. the sidewalls also kick a$$ and hook up.

Ya get what ya pay for though... depending on size, you'll pay up to $100 more per tire for the CC's (if not a competitor). Sucks, but I still believe it's worth it when compared to an MTR.

If I had the choice between those two I would go with the CC. I do prefer the BFG Krawlers though. Seen incredible things done by rigs with those tires on them!

I run the 37" MTR's and I really like them. Until recently, the sidewalls have held up great. I don't now why all of a sudden I've had 2 sidewalls go--maybe they just get softer after a ton of use.

That being said, the MTR's are undersized and way less agressive. The tire I wish I could have the most is the 38x13 CC, but they don't ever seem to want to make them and even when they do, I won't be able to afford them.

You never said how mucy on road vs off road your friend will be doing. If it's off road only, I think the CC is the choice between those 2. If it's going to be on road, even 40% of the time, I'd have to vote for the MT/R.

As far as off/on road goes it will only see pavement to-and-from the trails. It going to be primarily a trail rig like mine until he gets a trailer.

So far the CC's are sounding good.

On my rig I havent had any problems with my MTR's (Knock on wood), BUT when I am aired down to about 10 pounds they have a lot of sidewall flex and the rocks scrape the piss out of the bare portion where there is no sidewall tread. I just figured that was due to them sitting on a 15 inch rim though.

I have had MTR's on my Cherokee for a year and my wife just accused me of buying new tires while she was out of town. They've been on there over a year and have maybe 22-25K on them. And that's not just highway miles either. I gotta vote MTR's for the street with moderate trail use....

well i run 37 krawlers and think the world of them.

but i have only seen one set of cc in action and they did pretty good but i thought the rubber was a bit hard.

have had 35 mtrs and loved them in the snow. mud. and they did fairly well on slickrock

scale of 1-10 on mtrs they score a 7 for all purpose tire. if i was offroad only like i am i would go with krawlers. then cc. then mtrs. then swampers.
