Its was crazy busy up there today. Apparently if your on a side by side the speed limit is as fast as your rig can go. Also who put the boulders in front of the forest lake trail? I would have had no idea it was closed and the boulders would have made it more interesting. Wouldn't doubt if people were still heading up there.

We came from the Heber side and were the first full size from that side. Got stuck in the road due to snow a time or two while in 2 wheel drive.

By full size are you including jeep size? Cause I watched a jeep come up from the Heber side last week. ;) (when the gate at tibble was still closed)

We were also up there yesterday we were there about 630 and drove from AF side to heber side and i dont know where you would have gotten stuck in snow there was very little just before the top in the pines but it was either on the side of the road or if you had to drive thru it it wasnt anywhere near deep enough to get stuck we did it in 2wd the whole trip. And as far as being busy there was people but it didnt seem very busy to us maybe it was the time of day? I am assuming forest service put the boulders at forest lake. if you noticed there was a huge amount of water coming down that trail and im sure they did it to keep people out until it dries up to spare major damage. As far as bypassing the boulders if you look across the river you can see a whole pile of boulders/rocks that they have stacked so even if you did ignore the ones at the beginning you wouldnt get very far once you crossed the river. Mineral basin is still closed it is shut down where it washed out last year (just before the bridge) there was still a lot of water coming down that road and they also had signs posted that its closed due to wet conditions and they dont want vehicles up there digging it up and that it will open once its dry enough to support cars. without damage.

Just as we had turned around at mineral basin we ran in to a group of rigs (scouts) heading up and one guy stopped me and asked if you can get to the rock garden? I said nope its closed just around the corner and he went on to say "well can you get around the signs/blocks?" I said ya you can but they have it posted because they dont want people up there while its so wet. he says " well i was up there last year in the snow and it was fine i will go see where i can get to" So im assuming he was planning on bypassing the roadblock and headed for the rock garden? I really hope he didnt and even more i really hope it wasnt a member on here:-\

It sux when people drive around "road closed" signs because they feel that they have some kind of special ability to not damage the trail by doing so... like the other people that the sign is actually posted for. Not sure who would think like that... hopefully, no one on RME.

You should have got a plate number and photos and turned him in to the FS.

x3. It's idiots like them that ruin it for all of us. I remember back when a guy posted a youtube vid of him driving through forest lake (through the lake). Someone got his license plate, turned him in to the FS, and he got slapped with a hefty fine. We need to start catching people and turning them in like that if we want to keep our trails.

A few of us drove the road to Heber today and had a chance to stop and take a look at the entrance to Forest Lake. There is indeed a line of boulders blocking the entrance, but they really aren't that large. They seem to be much deeper on the river side, but I dont think its anything a vehicle that can get past the rock garden wouldn't be able to handle, so personally, they should just keep them there. I didn't notice it myself, but one of our passengers said they also have the road blocked off after the river crossing as well.

When we got there, there was a stock Liberty that had attempted to cross the rocks and was resting on the frame/panels along with a F250 with a broken tow strap trying to get him out. Of course we helped out, but we also made sure he was aware that the road is closed and after he got unstuck, they moved on back towards Tibble.

As a side note, Guardsman's is still closed from Heber to Big Cottonwood, but it does allow you to go to Park City. It did look like there might still be plenty of snow past the fenced area.

Well, just got home an hour ago from camping up there the last 2 nights. All I can say is the amount of water coming down that canyon is insane! Didn't do any wheeling as I knew most trails are closed, just enjoyed some peace and quiet with my wife and tested out one of my tent trailers to see what needs improving. I slept so well, so much better than in a tent. Oh, and I love our dutch oven, did all of the cooking in it.

We spent a few hours at Tibble Fork this afternoon and heard a lot of complaining about trail closures, I do hope people are smart enough to stay out until it dries out and roads are repaired, or they will eventually be closed for good.

I took pics of an artard going up Forest Lake yesteday. The river nearly swamped them as the water was coming over their half doors. Unfortunately, I was not able to get a shot of their plate. I stopped shooting when I thought they were dead. Sorry.

By the time I got out my camera, they were over the boulder and almost drowning. These pics are all I have. The driver was a teen and the two kids in the back were probably only 12 or 13. I told the overwhelmed person at the gate that they could nab em coming out but I am not sure what came of it.

and effing common sense

unfortunately common sense isn't very common anymore. I think the mentality is "my jeep can drive over that, I'm good." Honestly, most new jeepers don't even think about land use or destroying a trail. They think trails are closed because they're too difficult for most 4x4s and they see it as a challenge. It's tough to educate the brand new wheelers.

However, if there's a road/trail closed sign, they had better stay off it, regardless of what they think.
