King of the Hammers.

Hey y'all. Just wondering if there is anyone on the board that is going to race in the King of the Hammers for 2011. I have never been and was thinking that it would be fun to attend. Has anyone from the board gone? What should I expect? Where do you stay?

I went 2 years ago to pit for Clay Egan and took my buggy down. Had a blast running all the trails and worked our butts off to see Clay finish. Great times. We stayed out on Means Dry Lake bed which was even staging area. The closest town to stay in is Yucca Valley, about 30 miles from the event. If you've never been it definitely a must do.

Take you gooseneck and your popup. You will kick yourself for not having a rig to wheel.

Take plenty to drink and eat. Take WAY more firewood that you think you will need.

Dont forget that King of the Hammers will hold an event at Miller Motorsports Park July 15-16 I believe. Not the same as the event in Johnson Valley, but it will still be really cool!

Thanks for all the replies, y'all. I would like to go and check out the area. My fear is with all the land closures that it is only a matter of time before the Hammers are closed as well. I would really like to check it out before that happens.
