Kirby story

A good spud canon makes my day. I ran into a guy a week or so back that had made the coolest spud gun I have ever laid eyes on. I was envious as he demoed it for me. He had made it out of Sched 40 PVC because the ABS wouldnt stay together. He had a 4" base with a 1 1/2 barrell and had wired in a computer fan to some RC car batteries, a toggle switch and a grill ignitor. He unscrewed the cap off of the end, turned on the fan, sprayed starter fluid into the fan, put on the cap, turned off the fan, pushed the ignitor and I witnessed a potato go atleast 700 feet straight up. He launched another from the mud hole above the B straight up over the hill that is above Ward Canyon Trail.

The problem with witnessing this is now my spud gun is in the garbage and I am gathering parts.

What is it with boys and fire, guns and explosions?

When I was in the Army one of my aviation mechanic buddies built one that would launch stuff all the way to the other side of the airfield, it was friggin nuts and there was so much pressure/percussion coming out the barrel that we had to wear hearing protection. Those were some good days....

At a former job, we built a air cannon to shoot small spikes at ravens... We never hit one, and the power company never figured where the spikes on the pole above a transformer came from.
