Know anything about snowmobiles?

Without seeing a picture does anyone have any suggestions on how much a snowmobile might be worth? 1996 Yamaha v-max4. 3500 miles, small tear in the seat, piped, runs perfect. Thats about all I know about it.

Thanks

One of the guys I work with is into sleds. Here is what he had to say

"Hard to say. Most 96’s were only worth maybe 1600 or so. The V-max4 had some goofy big motor in it."

Last year you could have gotten one for 1200, I'd pay upwards of 1700 or maybe a little more if it was a clean machine.
A V-max4 is one huge pissed off sled. They're heavier than crap but they move faster than most newer sleds I know. It has a four cylender engine, it's really more like two two-cylender engines put together. They're liquid cooled and even have two little radiators with electric fans to keep the thing cool.
If you're into deep soft snow it's not the type of sled you want but if you want something comfortable and powerfull (and wicked fast) then it would be a great sled for you.
I'd say if it's not too hard of work it'd be a sweet sled to have.

Sweet I'm excited for you. Maybe we'll go riding next winter.

By the way, 3500 miles is low mileage for that year of sled. Also fix that little tear before it becomes a big tear. That's just a little tip.

Do a search over on Snowest.coms forums and you'll find a few guys using Maxs for powder. With that kind of power you can spin a huge track. You can also get some great deals on tracks over there...

that thing is sweet! I have been loving every minute of riding my sled, I have had it out about 6 times since I got it and the only problem I've ever had is when the first trip I took it out, I got about 5 minutes into the trail and the handle bar's broke in half, took it home and sleeved it and welded it and it was good to go. Funny thing is the very next weekend, in the exact same spot on the trail, my friend (Crimsonride) handle bars on his sled broke in the same spot. Must be a common problem with the Yamaha Sleds. I wish mine looked as good as the one in that picture though.
