My wife and I are getting ready to throw some sod down at our new home. I am sure someone on here has had some experience with some of our local turf farms. Basically I am curious about Emerald, Phillips, Summers in tremonton, and any other good farms. any info would be great. Really looking for value and quality.

I got a bunch from the Tremonton guys.
If you ask and are ready to go they will make you a deal on pallets of reject. Basically its way too hot in the middle of the pallet and had small yellow patches etc...

I think the problem is that it was a few days old and didnt have enough moisture left in it.

It worked out great for me. I just had to be ready to go get it when they called me back and then ready to get it spread out quickly...

It was less than half price. I hauled it home and we installed it all in a day. After a day or two not on the pallet and with a bunch of water it turned out awesome, Just a ton cheaper.

I sold my last motorcycle to the owner of Emerald...after dealing with him on a non-turf related transaction, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to get my sod from him. He's a super nice guy, squared away, and completely honest.

How much sod are you looking to get? Is there a reason you want to deal with the big guys directly? You can sometimes get better deals by dealing with one of the nurseries around town that deal with the big guys.

I was told it was easier to go straight to the sorce. We are going to need about 2100 square feet. Really the debate is do I buy local at Emerald (I've heard they are the best in Utah County) or get a good deal from Summers because my dad buys other crops from him?

I know Emerald is good. I heard Phillips is not so good. I know nothing about Summers as far as sod. The guy himself is an alright guy just don't know about his grass.

Not sure if they service your area, but the farm in Erda was fantastic to deal with for me. Great quality product. The farm in Vernon I would avoid like crazy. My parents got their sod from them 5 years ago and it was horrible compared to mine, and it still looks like crap.

I dealt with a joint in Southern Idaho a few years ago. I can't recall their name, but their sod was a little cheaper and a little nicer than other sod I've seen.
