I ended up picking up a 12 300xc. I need to get the suspension done. Who do you all recommend? The guy says it's been valved but doesn't really have any solid info on what was done.
My bike is at The Dirt Lab right now having my 4CS crap done and I think Von is dropping off the Closed Chamber forks to Jesse this week. This is my first experience with Jesse, so I can not give you any direct feedback but know several people personally that are happy with his work. He is on Redwood Road in N. Salt Lake, so it would make it close to you for drop off and pick up. If you do go to him, be sure to tell him that I told you to go.:D

So the guy I bought the bike from ran 36:1 on the premix. He rejetted the bike for me for winter and it runs great starts easy and Im happy. Reading through this thread it seems most people are running 40:1- 60:1. And reason I should lean it out or just keep running 36:1

I think it depends on the oil you use also. Klotz is designed to run around 40-50;1. Yamalube should be ran in the same range. The amsoil is designed to be ran at 90:1. I run klotz or yamalube and always run 40:1 with no issues. I think you could safely run less oil but as Paul pointed out you would be richer, ie more fuel in the mix.

I run 32:1 on amsoil interceptor. I jet accordingly and I like having a bit extra piece of mind, especially when I'm pulling the timbersled uphill pinned.

IMHO a motor that is pushed hard like yours is in the snow most definitely can benefit from extra oil. Under "normal" use it does not need the benefits. Racing I ran 40:1 in my 300 but would run 50:1 in the off season. My oil of choice is Motul 800.

Hunter is telling me when he is at full throttle burning down the street and lets off, the engine sounds like piston slap, now i don't know what that sounds like or it takes place during rapid deceleration.

any input

btw: im to old and its to cold out side for me to duplicate....

You need to be careful with your jetting and mixture ratio in real cold air, especially if you're riding a 2 stroke real hard on the pipe, then closing the throttle. It's easy to create a low/no oil condition and seize a piston.

Does anybody know who this bike belongs to, and what kind of use it has had?

I don't, but based on the number with the letter x and that he is from Kanab, he is not racing in the Utah races. An x in USRA is for the 250 class.

A little further web stalking shows that the suspension was done by Fineline out of St. George and with the Arizona Moto on the stickers, he was probably racing an Arizona series.

What is the most economically feasible way to get a rear wheel paddle tire setup? Looks like rocky mnt has a tusk wheel for $300 then I still need sprocket rotor tube and tire. Any other options?

Keep an eye on KSL, I picked up a full rim and tire for $50ish

FWIW, I can do that Tusk rim for ~$238+shipping. Or the Warp9 that's normally $398 for ~$346+shipping. Shipping is about $5-$6.

Yup just buy someone's OEM wheel got a huge discount.

I have a warp 9 wheel with a sand snake paddle already mounted. Too bad you didn't buy a Honda

I can get you a Warp9 with rotor and sprocket for 50% of whatever retail is.

I don't have any ideas. But if you can't get it out without jacking it up take it to Jesse at the dirt lab.
