KTM 525 EXC and 530 EX-R

Anyone know much about them? Been searching on thumpertalk and ADV but thought I would ask here as well.

From what I have gathered thus far, the EXC-R is a "update/new version" of the EXC?

I have owned a few KTM 300 EXC's. From what I understand about the "R" designations is that it stand for a close ratio "Race" type transmission. The "W" designation stood for the "Wide" ratio tranny. Short gears through 3rd and then long gears through 6th for high speed through the open deserts.

You need to determine what kind of riding you will do. All my bikes have been of the W variety. I do mainly desert type riding. Slow through the trees and then haul ass through the open spaces.
