I was lucky enough to be invited to go to Moab for labor day weekend with Steve (eb101) and meet some of his coworkers and friends from Draper utah and Denver Colorado.
On day one, we ran Kane Creek. The first two thirds were not very thrilling as it was September and there was no flowing water down low. One of the Jeeps had a thermometer that read 117 degrees, but we were not moving at the time, so it might have been missleading, as engine temp radiating off the Jeep could have driven it higher than actuall temperature. It was miserable either way.
Kane Creek did get fun as we got higher, and we did get to play in some water. maybe one Spring we will run this one again.
Day two we ran Hells Revenge. Paul had a mishap with his Wrangler, just out of the blue on a smooth descent, his control arm tore off of the axle. What a delimma. He was so concerned about how do we get this off the trail and back to Denver. Steve was prepared with welding rod and a new set of jumper cables. Between three batteries, three jumper cables, welding rod, a welding lens, and some ingenuity he was up and running, with a touch up weld later that day.
Steve let me drive about half of Hells Revenge. that was fun!
Day three we ran about half of Poison Spider Mesa. By then it was just Steves bronco and John and Dawn in their Rubicon. What a lot of beautiful views from this trail. After two u joint failures on the Bronco, from phantom causes, we got to my favorite part of the trip, the Little Arch. We ate lunch looking down thru the arch at the pavement below. After lunch I walked over the Arch. It was a little scary, but it was just my mind playing tricks on me. I kept thinking about the guy on the motorcycle blasting across the arch. I know I have seen the video also, but I cant find it.
Thanks everyone that made the trip so much fun, especially Steve.
Here is the link to the pictures. They include the Take Back Utah rally.
