Well it takes alot of commitnent from alot of good people that share the same goals as you do. Years ago my brother-in-law and i ran a 1/2 1600 car in the Then LARANA seris in Cali. With a lot of hard work and some sponsership we were able to race for 5 yrs and 2 yrs with MORE. As a small team we did all the work ourselves to keep cost down. With $495.00 entry fees with a 50% pay out, you need to run contigence parts, so if you run a tire or part thats not on the list you dont get payback if you place(1st, 2nd or 3rd)you miss out on money that can be used for future races. So as Shannon switched tires, he switched his ability to recover money for his output. You can take it easy and try to finish a race for the sake of finishing, but when it comes down to the season end and your meetings with sponsers for the off season or next season, its hard to sell your product to a company for funds when you just finished races. They want the driver and cars that are battleing for the wins, for the overall season ending wins. thats what sells parts, and advertising. When LARANA set out to grow they set up a tv contract to better the sport and raised our entries to $795.00 a race. With 7 races a year i dont have that kind of money to pay it ourselves. YOU NEED SPONSER!!! You need to race to win! Just alittle look into my race experience. I dont know what the entries are for the KOH. Racing is a love first, You cant do it if you dont love it. When your out in the desert for a race and you break down, some times you out there for hours before anyone gets to you. It takes money to get it together, A lot of hard work to get there, And a lot of LUCK to finish. I commend all those that share the love for off-road racing and the love of the rocks as I do. Some day I would like to be out there again!! Good luck to all!!! AND MOST OF ALL..........HAVE FUN!!!!!
