Lift/Tire/Gooseneck question

So I have a 2007 CTD quad cab short bed with a 6" lift and 37" tires. I pull my trailers alot but my flatbed was stolen and I have yet to replace it. I'm thinking about getting a gooseneck so I can tow 2 rigs if needed however i'm not sure i can find a gooseneck that will fit a truck with my lift/tire combo. I'm almost sure i'll have to put a smaller lift and 35" on it but I wanted to see what you guys thought.

I have a camper trailer now and if I can find a goosneck for a decent price i'll go with that but if i need to change things (3-1/2" lift and 35" tires)

Any input?

There are a lot of nice bumper pulls out there for 2 rigs.

Or, it may be easier to lift the gooseneck 4" than to lower the truck 4".

Or, you could modify the gooseneck for the truck.

You can purchase a goose neck trailer that will fit your truck. I own one now. I had the same problem you do now and I ended up getting a Big Tex that was built to fit my truck. I ran a 2006 CTD with a 6" lift and 315's.

How much did it set you back? I would much rather fit the trailer to my truck than vice versa.

Sorry about the slow response. I spent $10,660 for the trailer and had to add a pop up center on it. I think with everything it ended up costing about $11,500 or there abouts. Remember that it is a tandem dual, 22,500 lbs load capacity, and it is 35' of deck. It weighs around 8,000 to 9,000 lbs empty with the tool box full of chains. Total length is around 43 to 44' long. I hope that helps you.

I would not be surprised if you could just drill another hole in the adjustable part of the gooseneck and make that trailer ride pretty level.

I would find someone with a goose that would let you come over and check it out. I am north of you in Roy, but if someone would let you play with the adjustability in the neck it might work for you. I have plenty of time to play if you ever in the area.

I have a SuperDuty with 4" lift and 35's. The trailer was able to adjust just fine. I would like to have the neck drilled with one more hole, but it does just fine. It is about an inch high in the front.

The problem with re-drilling holes in the adjustable portion of the trailer is you really have not fixed the low clearance on the tail gate. If you raise the adjustable part you are only going to bring the goose neck closer to the bed and tail gate. It doesn't take of a break over angle and you will have re-arranged the sheet metal on the bed of your truck. I hope that makes sense.

You actually have several good options without having to modify the truck. I own a trailer sales company, The axle riser is a good idea depending on the trailer, trailers can be built with a raised over shot too.

if your good with a welder you can always raise the neck up?

You can. I would not trust any of my welds. Actually, what I do can hardly be called welding. Sure, metal is stuck together, sometimes, but it really looks like someone sneezed one of those wet, nasty sneezes when I weld.

The other thing to keep in mind while raising the goose neck up is there is a heck of a lot riding on those welds. Make sure they are top quality before you load and move the trailer.

Makes perfect sense.
