I know what you’re saying here; but on the mechanical side of things, is 4° of timing retardation a legitimate thing? Wouldn’t that be like only if the engine is knocking really bad or whatever? I thought most engines were usually a few degrees generally advanced timing.

On my big block Buick we are WAY advanced timing if you have the bigger cams
