Little bit of props for O'Reillys in Centerville...

Not a big deal, but it was a pleasant enough surprise and handled so nicely I thought it was worth giving O'Reillys in Centerville some public props.

Noticed some oil under my Jeep this morning. Turned out that it was just my steering stabilizer. It's a Monroe that has been on there for 5 abusive years. It had worked well enough while it lasted so I just ran over to O'Reillys for a new one. Wasn't thinking about warranty or anything like that. But the counter guy at O'Reillys asked me if I was replacing the factory unit and I told him no, same one I was buying. Asked me where I had bought it and I honestly couldn't remember. He said it was a lifetime warranty part if I had bought it from there so he looked me up in the computer, but didn't find it. I'm not sure most counter guys would have even shown that much interest or put that much effort into it. But he didn't stop there. He said I might have bought back when the store was still a Checker Auto and if so it might show up on a different system. So he kept looking and found it - I had bought it there. So my new one is free :).

If he had just rang me up and sent me on my way I'd have been none the wiser or felt like I had anything to complain about. So props to the dude at O'Reillys in Centerville! :)

Good deal....I have found O'Reillys(any of them) to be a better place then VatoZone and I always try them first when looking for something.

The O'Reilly's on 3500 South in WVC is pretty good. I'll drive there before hitting the Autozone 2 blocks from my house.

I like the NAPA a little further down, too.

That's cool. I had a similar experience with them warranting a cracked bug shield on my Ford.

Go Schucks, Kragen, Checker, Oreilleys or whatever the hell you are now!

I use the one in Bountiful much more than any other store. Having to warranty batteries in my Super Duty fairly frequently, I found that having an O'Reilly in Moab has proven handy as well. I'm not a fan of their house brand parts at all, especially unit bearings for Dodge trucks. Good luck with their available Precision line though.

I have nothing but good things to say about O'Reilly's. They have had a huge improvement! My buddy need a wheel bearing for his 78 fj40, and they had Timkin in stock. There warranty coverage is no questions asked. The tool rental policy is great. My favorite part is I can check there inventory on my phone because of there awesome mobile site, and call and verify it is on the self before I go. Now if only they would match Rockauto prices.

Glad to hear your O'Reilly is so good to you. My local one isn't so hot. I often end up with the wrong parts. And they're sticklers on the tool rental program. If I dont get it back in 24 hours, I pay for it. I prefer Autozone's 30 day rental policy. I think auto parts stores take a totally different feel on them based on one or two knowledgeable/service-oriented employees. Unfortunately, my local one doesn't have any of those. :(

I'm glad to hear that I'm the minority and that most O'Rilleys are top notch.

My experience is a lot closer to yours. Wrong parts, punks behind the counter, lots of run around, bs for the sake of bs.

Maybe I need to give them a try again. I have been driving past a checker for years to go ANYWHERE else. :D

I mean it never hurts to know what you actually need and to know more about what you want then the guy behind the parts counter anywhere. If you go in expecting the guy behind the counter to know more then you then you are going to get screwed no matter where you go. I'm not going to say I haven't been shafted in some way going to O'Reillys but most times it was because I should have done my research before going not because of an employes mistake. Again this could happen at any store.

What is up with the checker / oreilly thing? They seem almost the same but when the checker that was close to me changed to Orielly the service and a lot of other things got a lot better.

Orielly bought out Checker/Kragen/ Schuck's. From what I hear, they have different software, policies, and products, yet they retained the Checker employees.

Agreed. My issue is that I"ll know exactly what I need. I'll ask for something simple like a brake rotor or pads for my vehcile. I'll know all the specs about it, but they either do something wrong on the computer or they grab the wrong part off the shelf and I don't find out about it until it's 11 PM and my truck is in pieces in the garage. ANd of course by then they've closed and I have to wait 'till the next day to fix it. That's happened with autozone, checker, and Orielly, but it happens a lot more for me @ Orielly/Checker for me.

I agree with this, plus it seems like O'Reilly's carries more of the Toyota parts than Autozone.

Great story its good to hear about someone obviously going out of their way to help  I'm with Steve being the minority. Our O'reilly's burned their last bridge with me years ago :-\

The centerville store is my fav as well... they always go out of their way to help me. They have ordered specialty parts for me several times and not needed me to pay first like most other stores. And to get things overnighted to the store for free is just beyond the call for me.
