locker in an 87 samuraai?

In my 87 samurai I have a 5.12 sidekick diff in my front samurai axle and in my rear hybrid housing. Now this is my daily driver and guys are telling me on the trail to get lockers. I dont know much about them but have been told not to get a spool on a daily driver and not a lockrite as they break quick in these diffs. whats everyones opinion on this?

well a spool is not that bad in a DD but some people dont like it, a lockright, spartan locker and aussie lockers all are the same type, they replace the spider gears in you current carrier and are only as strong as the carrier your putting them in. That said if you go with a locker that replaces your carrier such as a arb air locker a detroit locker or Ox locker you will be in big bucks but have a very good locker.

IN my opinion i would go with the spartan locker i think you'll be fine if you stay under 35 inch tires and dont go crazy all the time. You can always upgrade the axle parts too but i wouldnt worry about it, just buy a spartan and wheel the crap out of your rig till you decide to upgrade to toyota axles

you need lockers, but stay with UNDER 33 inch tires on sami axles. I have seen a few snappages with 33s on a sami.
