Lockright Locker Questions

I have a Lockright for a Dana 35 C - Clip. It was made for a Carrier without the TrackLock and with ABS.

My question is will it work in a Dana 35 which does "not" have ABS? Any actual experience?

My cousin had a Lockright that he tried installing in his Dana 35 and it was for ABS when he did not have ABS and he said it was a "hair" bigger. But as we all know all Jeeps are a little different. You know mismatched bolt sizes here and there and odd parts, etc.

Anyone know if this will work? Thanks!

I got ya here. You'll need new springs. A friend of mine did just that, bought a used lockright from some dude. He put it in and it did some funny stuff, poping and banging. Anyway, Mepco got him some springs and they worked just fine. I'd put it in first and see what it does, if it's acting funny get new springs and see what that does. If none of that works I might have a lockright you can buy.

Well I'm actually doing an axleswap pretty soon, so I don't need the locker anymore. I'm trying to find out what other kind of Jeeps will it work in. JeepTJ38 has a 97 TJ without ABS.

I just called Mepco to find out what they say on it. They said that Lockright changed something for newer model years where if it is 95 or newer it doesn't matter if it is ABS or not... I still am confused about that. He said it would work in the 97.

Then I contacted 4Wheel Parts and talked to Matt. They don't carry Lockright, but he looked up the info for me anyways. He said that it would not work because they have 2 different model numbers. i.e. Model number xxxx is for ABS and model number xxyz is for non ABS.

So I am still in the dark about this Question. If your right Crimson, Thanks alot bud! :)

Well, the different model number could be for the different springs related to the product. You're best off calling lockright directly and asking their techy's.

I faxed them yesterday. They still haven't e-mailed or faxed me back yet. Maybe it was the wrong place... I went to Lockright.com and under contact it was to either call or fax JT Outfitters in North Carolina. Is that their official website?

Thanks again.

Here is what my vendor catalog shows:

Dana 35
3.31 & Down Large Hub PT2310
3.55 & Up Large Hub PT2310

3.31 & Down Small Hub PT2311
3.55 & Up Small Hub PT2311

So it looks like they only make two different ones for the D35, not sure how to tell what hub size it is... I assume they are referring to the carrier?

Powertrax (lockright) was bought by Richmond gear... JT outfitters is a 4x4 sho back east, he does alot of Cruiser stuff so I know who he is...strange that it lists him. Get ahold of Richmond Gear... they could answer any questions...

I just sent an e-mail to Richmond Gear. Hopefully they will have a "for sure answer"! :D

Can I get a drumroll for the answer please?

(Drumroll)

The Lockright Locker made for an ABS Dana 35 will also work in a Non ABS Dana 35.

Thanks guys for all the research and help. I appreciate it!! :)

Well, on some models,(I'm not sure about the 35) there is a sensor-gear on the carrier for the ABS. So they use a different carrier.

Yeah, it's normal. It has to do with your steering geometry and how your front picks up when the jeep accelerates hard. There are ways to eliminate it like a drop pitman (which you may already have) and high steer, and other things like that.
