Lockright locker warrantee

Anyone know what the warrantee is on a lockright locker no one I have talked to seems to know.

I don't know for definite but I'm 95% sure it covers manufacturer defect issues only, what is the issue you had?

Its for a buddy its in his dana 35 under a yj he was running 37's but just down sized to 35's it ratchets like normal when he turns right but doesn't ratchet at all when he turns left. We haven't pulled it apart yet but the locket isn't very old and he hasn't gone off the street since is was put in.

It sounds like the tire size may have been a little to much for that little locker. I'm guessing it is a minor fix like said above. If it is in the rear axle and sees alot of daily driving it will probably become a routine fix.

You might want to check the rear axle to see if its bent. Any bind on the axles will affect the locker. Unfortunately the best way to do that is to pull the axles and carrier and put a pipe or tube through.

I would have to say I do not have any consistent noises out of my rear locker. I DD mine often and I cannot say that turning one direction or another will cause what you are discribing everytime. I get lots of random reactions that all very with speed and if any throttle is applied.

I have wheeled my rear lockright on 37's and now 36's for almost 5 years. I have wheeled it pretty hard and heard some loud bangs and what I though to be explosion before, but it still works like a champ. I get an occasional "unlock" when changing lanes which can be nasty.

The only way to know for sure would be to just get the thing out and wheel it. See what happens. There is an operational check out in the manual that can be done on jacks. I don't think ratcheting noise alone is enough to justify if it is broken.

My Aussie locker I had did the same thing. It would ratchet when I turned left and quiet when turning right. I pulled it and it was fine and it still worked on the trails with no problems. This was with 36" TSL tires and a Dana 44.

The ratcheting noise from the locker while turning the vehicle is normal. It is supposed to ratchet when there is no throttle applied - that is just how they work. If your friends lockright doesn't ratchet, then it is either locked and chirping tires, or it is in need of some attention. If the locker seems to work correctly, I'd imagine it is ratcheting when he turns right, he just can't hear it. Have him try it in a parking lot with the windows down. I'd bet it still clicks.

The fact that people run 35"+ tires on lockrights in other axles all the time is not a valid comparison... The Dana 35 is the reason they fail - not the lockright. Like Bart said, it is common for D35's to bend, which puts funny loads on the locker, and causes early demise.

MY OPINION... a locked Dana 35 that gets wheeled even moderately is not going to last no matter what parts are in it. Go ahead - argue.;)

I should have been more descriptive, it ratchets normal while turning right but does ratchet while turning left and skids the tire like it is bound up. The only reason I had a concern was because it is skidding the tire. Thanks for all the input, any ideas why it would do that?

Sounds like it needs a spring and pin kit to me Sean. Mine did that right after I left on my mission and a couple of the pins were sheared off.

You will not get any argument. I saw 3 break in one weekend. Probably 10 or so during my wheeling time. What a nightmare when the axle starts walking out.
