they are about as upgradeable as any laptop...Hard drive and memory are fairly simple. If you really find it necessary most the other parts are upgradeable as well (proc if a faster one is avaialble, etc). The "Get it loaded, pay a little more, and know it will work" train. (A nice rubi unlimited)
Get a PC if you like to work on it like a project.
Get a Mac if you like to work on projects with it.
There is not a right answer, but there is a less frustrating one.
